This deal almost feels like Brugge are using Brentford to draw us out, while in reality Brentford probably haven't even made an offer yet, it could also just be verbal to push us into making the deal instead.

I for one don't see us caving in to their demands and will most likely leave it there, and Nusa probably won't even end up at Brentford. So Brugge will actually be the losers here.

If this is to happen, it's most likely a deadline day special where Brugge will cave in and accept our terms.

Either way, not stressed or worried about if he comes or not. I'd rather we get the deal we want and on our terms. If we can't do it, I'm fine to wait till Summer to look at him again or potentially line up someone else.

We have signed a CB which was the biggest priority for us, and we also have another attacker on loan in Werner. I feel we need a CM still more than another winger.

I'm content with what we have done and can wait till the summer to continue our business when the market is more open.

Exactly that.
I came into this window wanting a CB and anything else was a bonus.
Then Werner was that bonus and I didn't think anything else would happen apart from a replacement if we could shift Hojbjerg.
I'm really not going to get upset about this one and it's not going to detract from what has been a very good window for us.

People using this to have a pop at Levy or the club, really need to temper their expectations.

Great post. This has been an 8.5/9 out of 10 window, and for "outs" its definitely been 9 out of 10. Very happy with the business done and we are in a great position for the summer to shift the remaining few players we want to move, with space to backfill them

Perhaps the thinking is 30m+ might even buy you someone more first team ready by the end of the window, FFP might make clubs desperate.

You could well be right re Brugge. It is sort of strange that we haven’t had any update about Nusa travelling over for his medical or any more details about the deal. It did sort of drop all at once out of nowhere, Ie everything agreed with club and player then go quiet. Some reports suggest Brentford have just put in an offer not that it’s been accepted and others that their offer was actually lower than ours and thus rejected. Does feel a little like a club line but then again maybe we wake up to a “here we go”. Ether way I think at this point he probably won’t be coming here.

I am a huge fan of Nusa, as is well known, and think it’s a big shame we are likely missing out on him. My disappointment tho comes more from the long term as I think we are missing out on a future star. In the present however I don’t think he really changes much. Personally i don’t see him consistently contributing much for at least another 1 or 2 seasons being realistic.

Now that doesn’t mean we should pass on him or it’s not that big of a deal. If he ends up being world class, which he does have the potential to be, then we might well rue today. It still really annoys me we passed on Kvaratskhelia and even he’s still a work in progress. But there is obviously a big “IF” attached to Nusa, like there is with every young player, and we have no idea what he will become. With that in mind you can’t get too caught up in the hypothetical even if the signs are there.

Ultimately it comes down to who else we move for. If we are going back to our list it also gives us the option of finding a player that is maybe a few years further in their development and thus likely more able to contribute sooner then Nusa probably would. That is a positive assuming our targets are all of a similar calibre. Nusa will only feel like an opportunity missed if the player we do eventually buy is significantly below his level.

As has been well covered on here our attack, bar an aging Son, whilst serviceable is overall lacking. Nusa long term would have helped with that but realistically there is only so much one can expect from an 18 year old who has only really begun starting games in Belgium semi regularly this season. We need more than that in the short term if we hope to challenge.

I doubt we will be moving for another WF this window. I think we saw a potential opportunity to steal a march on other interested parties but eventually the deal maybe became too complicated and expensive. I’m sure we will continue to monitor a number of possible targets throughout the second half of the season and see what the lay of the land is come summer. After all teams will still be looking to raise money and more players will be available.

Maybe we’ve decided he isn’t all that.
Sounds like Brugge are trying to get more money from us as they were told to raise their offer for Sonko by 3-4 mil

Club have pulled away now and don’t want to entertain the circus Brugge have created after positive convos with both club and camp for some time. Everything was set with him and his project to come here in the summer . Our idea changed on this with ange seeing a need to get him now price went up and we thought we could sit on it so Brugge would come back down . They invited clubs to the table last week as I stated to push their price up and bring us higher we didn’t budge but still felt like we had the cards so seemed confident. Lo and behold Brentford Newcastle Brighton started circling and went for it with Bruges conditions. The player I believe has preferences Brentford due to certain verbal agreements and Scandinavian ties which could help him settle and grow quicker then coming to spurs which he had agreed to if the clubs could settle the price. I just hope this won’t be a player in 2/3 years goes for stupid money and we look back and think wtf but he might not be . It’s the nature of deals I’m afraid you win some you lose some.

sorry guys x

Tbf to Brugge they played this well. Might have pissed us off but they did whatever they could to get the absolute best fee possible. One has to respect that really. Personally I think he has lots of potential but time will tell. Be very interesting to see how he adapts to the PL next season. One thing is for sure is if he develops as well as he might he will be beyond our reach financially. I just hope whoever else is on our list for is of similar ability/potential.

the ones we would want will be out of reach not just on price but competition. That’s why this strategy is key with our current standing . Ideally a Williams or Neto would be lovely but unless we get a clear run they will have better suitors right now it’s just the nature of the beast . We do like the look of ibrahim osman but nothing concrete on that yet.

To add my biggest concern is we haven’t replaced Harry Kane and it won’t be long before we have to replace son . That’s 2 world class players. You work around one but not 2 without a massive drop off for a season or 2. You can have a strategy but it comes down to money 💰.

Osman looks talented but is even further from first-team impact than Nusa playing in the Danish league, if Ange wanted Nusa in now then I’d have to think we’ll target someone who could hit the ground running.

Williams or Neto would be fantastic, all tho Neto does have injury issues. Still they are certainly of the right calibre. Also read Wolves might have some financial issues brewing. Still like you say I don’t see ether happening this window. Especially Nico. Was wondering if we would be interested in Osman, looks like West Ham are really trying to get him but are struggling to agree a fee. Seems they want around £20 mil for him.

Isn’t Roony Bardghji a similar profile to Nusa?
18 years old
Very highly rated winger
Sure to move to a big club soon

West Ham reportedly had an £18 million bid turned down for Ibrahim Osman a few days ago
