Yeah I'd agree with that - it is highly unusual for a 16 year old centre back to get a game in senior football. You do get the odd 16/17 year old getting games but they tend to be attackers or at a stretch midfielders. Centre backs are almost unheard of (at least I can't think of any).My first impression was that this seems an underwhelming move, but Opta have ranked the Polish Ekstraklasa as the 18th best/most competitive league in the world, sandwiched between La Liga 2 and the Argentine Primera in 19th, which isn’t too shabby. Croatian HNL is 21st so it represents a step up. For further perspective, other talents we’ve been linked with include Bergvall (playing in the the Swedish Allsvenskan, ranked 24th) and Nusa (who at 16 broke through in the Norwegian Eliteserien, currently ranked 30th).
If he gets regular first team football as a 16 year old CB for a midtable club at an evidently decent level, that’s great going.
