Having endured years of is Harry staying or going , we are not going to get the same again from media and pundits on Ange I hope.

Tottenham are confident manager Ange Postecoglou, 58, will stay at the club despite potential interest from Liverpool as the Reds look to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer.

Harry Redknapp or @SirHarryHotspur?

Of course we are, how else do you want them to fill pages with things Man Utd and Liverpool fans want to read? (Apart from Romero / VDV / Sarr / Udogie to Utd / City / Pool stories).

Welcome it, embrace it, take it as a compliment and ignore it (and don't give those outlets any of your money!)

Unless you are winning the big trophies, your top assets will be linked with moves. That's just how it works.

Makes you wonder why apart from Saudi , how few transfer rumours has Sonny been linked to, signing Sonny guarantees masses of shirt sales in S Korea and a mass influx of fans from New Malden

Dunno how I feel about that response honestly. Sounds like he's not entertaining it but it didn't read as directly as I wanted it to. I kinda wanted:

It sounds more like "I could be sacked so not going to answer that" kind of reply. The fact he said it mostly out of his hands just shows what he's referring too.

Clearly if Liverpool made him an offer he would consider it. It’s probably his dream job. No point worrying about it though because it probably won’t happen.

We went out to City in the FA Cup. The Carabao was poor for sure but it doesn't make or break our season. We haven't won a title in 15 years. We're no more ready to win a domestic trophy in his first season than we are to challenge for the title. I don't see how a cup exit has any bearing on our league position and progress. The squad is strong but we're still in transition.

I think we need to lower expectations here honestly. I know we're impatient due to the last 5 years lately wasted but we're early stages in this new era. It's a process that will take time. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed as long as we finish higher than last season. The quality of football is night and day from the last few years and the squad is so young still.
Going out of the cups early allows us to be more focused on preparation for some of our league games, so league performances and results should theoretically benefit from this.

For example, having a cup match on a Wednesday night would mean:
Training on the Sun-Tues is focused on the cup opponent, not the subsequent league opponent.
Reduced and/or lighter training on Wed & Thurs, to manage fatigue/recovery.
The first full-intensity session focused on the weekend league game, with the whole team together, would be on the Friday...only 1-2 days before the game.
That's 1-2 days of focused preparation for a league game, compared to 6-7 days (Sun-Fri/Sat) if we're out of the cup - i.e. multiple times as much preparation.

I wasn't expecting to win a domestic cup or to challenge for the PL title in Ange's first season, but I can understand why someone might expect us to be slightly more consistent in the league after going out of the both cups in early rounds. If we do qualify for the CL, this may have been a contributing factor (i.e. a blessing in disguise). If we narrowly miss out on CL qualification, perhaps we would have finished further behind the CL spots had we progressed further in the cups. We'll never know.

The other way of looking at this is losing cup games can hit confidence and morale, so it might have been detrimental to our league form. However, we won both league games that immediately followed a cup defeat, scoring 8 goals across those two PL games.

I said top 6 should be the goal before the season started. An optimistic view at the time on here. I still think that would be a very good first season, especially if you told me we'd play nearly a third of the season with a bare bones squad and several games without a CB of any sort but yeah, it would feel like a disappointment at this stage.

We've given ourselves a real chance at more than that. Just hope we can achieve it.
It seems far less optimistic with the hindsight of how awful Chelsea have been 😁

And if Bayern came in for Alonso, he could well be approached by Liverpool.

But the potential here is incredible, and winning big silverware with us would be far more impressive than at Liverpool where Klopp has already changed their landscape.

Full transcript (according to football.london) but obviously the Liverpool bit is the important section..
Don’t know if you’ve seen reports of being on Liverpool shortlist to replace Klopp. Do you want to say anything about that?

"I may be on a shortlist." I don’t think I want to say anything about that because I don’t think that’s ever going to enter my brain space for what is my priorities in life and profession right now.

You must feel you’re only just getting started at Tottenham.

Well I am. Not just feel — I am. I’ve only been here seven months, so that’s self-explanatory. I’ve been at pains to say we’ve still got a long way to go in terms of the football we want to play, team we want to be, squad we want to have. We’ve had two positive windows. I think we’ve had two positive campaigns, a decent campaign so far, but we’ve got a long way to go.

Any doubt you’ll be here next season?

That’s what I’m talking about. That’s the funny space when we talk about managers. When we’re not going well, then there’s questioning about whether we’re going to be here. When you’re potentially going OK there’s still question about whether you’re going to be here. The reality of it is: most of it is out of our hands. I’m never worried about that.

I’ve got a history of 26 years of management where you can see pretty clearly what I do. I rely on that as my explanation as to where my thought processes are. Right now it’s about finishing the season strongly with Tottenham and making sure we’re trying to establish a really strong foundation for who we want to be in the years to come. That can only happen if I’m totally focused on what these last 14 games can bring for us.

Take the Liverpool links as a compliment at all?

It depends. If it’s just people throwing up names, then who cares? Like, seriously? But, at the end of the day, if I’m doing a good job then hopefully people will acknowledge that in one form or another — whatever that form is. But so-called ‘chat’, that’s of no interest to me.
