I actually think the way we play is fine, other than being too vulnerable at times, but the quality in the attacking areas really needs to go up.

Annoying to see Kulusevski come on instead of Lo Celso, Werner staying on as long as he did, Richarlison not coming on sooner and Maddison going off. It's not often that I disagree with so many of our changes but we really didn't help ourselves tonight. Why do I find myself more frustrated than after the Fulham game.

Frustrating match. For once we started well and then it just didn't happen. Too many players out of form or uninsterested. Been like that for awhile.

Son central against teams who sit back doesn't work well. How many teams set up like this against us now? We have to find answers. We clearly miss Kane but any real quality number 9 would make a difference in these games.

Another strange watch.
A 3/4 of a season through and I still can’t see a clear plan.
Very open at the back, still haven’t sorted out winning corners at both ends of the pitch and not really creating good scoring opportunities.
All of that with a full strength group of starters although I’m not sure I know our best starting XI and their positions.
There is quite clearly a very clear plan, the issue is some of our players are not world class so don’t produce quality top top performances every week therefore we don’t win and dominate every game like fans are seemingly demanding.

The progress and transformation this season from a defensive completely negative mess under Conte, especially having also lost Kane this summer is very impressive.

we started the match well, came out with the right intensity and aggression. After their equaliser we dropped off and struggled to find much. Ran into our typical issue of breaking teams down the sit back. We just tip and tap passes around the box without really driving though. Needed 3 points really but this draw doesn’t kill us in anyway. Three points is a must on Sunday

I simply do not believe you think this.

As for not creating good opportunities: we've scored 62 goals this season. We've scored in *almost* every game.

Don't think the squad generally is performing to the level of quality it has at the moment.

Really with the squad we have, 4th should be easier than it's proving to be.
Agreed. I’m a bit concerned Ange seems to picking players based on his preferences not how they are actually playing. If Southgate had brought on Kulu instead of GLC he would have got pelters and rightly so

We're average enough and it's tiresome watching us pass around in front of a deep defence instead of crossing and shooting far more often to create some jeopardy on the opposition goal. Watching Romero walking in possession is tiresome. Seeing Maddison run deep to get possession, only to hand it off again after moving 5 yards with the ball is pointless. Is it tactical that we don't cross and shoot more?
No point in doing crosses when we don't play with a striker.

You do post some utter bollocks at times
really? bollocks like those criticising kulu who had 15 mins vs madders who has stunk up every game since he returned from injury but is getting picked cos he's Ange's player of choice? What's the point of a bench or wanting depth if they get 5 mins to change the game? Why hasn't he lit a rocket up timo's ass for his lazy play since the assist? Or made a change? I think Ange is seeing huge stars and realising he can't drop players at will - this is not japan, scotland or Oz. Our tactics, general attitude during many games and application to WIN have regressed?

But don't I post bollcks. Let me apologise sir - they all had a great game, we were so unlucky and if only ...Madders & Bass rate 10/10 for their performances, timo a 9 only cos he was a little lazy & Ange made the perfect subs at the perfect time.

Played some good stuff through defence and midfield but they just camped in their half knowing that the football stops in the final third, too many flaws in all of the front three to be effective in these tight games with a well marshaled back eleven.

Son has no appreciation of touch or weight of pass with his back to goal.

And for someone that spent their entire childhood working on control, it is sorely lacking a lot of the time.

Still can’t believe Maddison didn’t get a free kick for getting charged into. Ref literally 3 yards away from it as well. absolutely baffling

Had W Ham scored it would have been chalked off and we would have been given the free kick

Not very often Son hesitates to shoot but he did it all game tonight. Usually he would just got for it. All a bit strange really.

Having all that possession and doing fuck all with it needs addressing.

Subs completely killed our momentum. I had wanted Gio to start but I understood why Ange picked Maddison. I wasn’t particularly calling for his sub when he was pulled off but equally considering how well Gio played on sat I wanted to see what he could bring to the table. Bringing on Kulu for Maddison was a very poor move. I get Ange really likes his energy and wants him to be part of his team but this wasn’t the time to try it out considering his off form Kulu has been of late. The subs killed us. Ether keep on Maddison or bring on Gio.
Totally agree.

Very frustrating but who knows mabye Gio on might not have made much difference as their low block was hard to get through.

We need to sign some better attacking players this summer to improve our consistency further.

I'm ok with the result and performance. West ham played exactly how I thought they would, compact, whilst trying to nick a goal on the counter/set piece.

Win against forest and its been a decent 8 days, result wise.

Maddison’s form is a little concerning. I also thought he played too deep. He was ineffective today
I don't mind him dropping deep if his intention is to quickly turn and play a longer ball in behind ala Erikson to Dele or Kane. That should be our change up with Werner and Johnson on the wings and Son through the middle. When it's all getting a bit tight and slow getting their back four running back should be our plan B with the pace we have up top.

But he comes deep, turns, turns again, then lays it off sideways. That's not really doing anything Benta or Bissouma can't do.
