I don't get it. I thought he was decent when he came on, and yet he is getting pelters in here and in other threads. Sure, his final attempt to put it into the box was ridiculous (awful, awful, awful, and frustrating, as was the failed pass to Son earlier), but he was constantly on the move, combined very well with the midfield and Porro around the penalty area several times, and he picked out Lo Celso in the box for the chance that fell to Udogie, which really should have been a goal. I swear, so many people make up their mind based on one thing. Doesn't matter what happens before or after that.

I do however feel he should have come on instead of Werner. He looked done at that point, whereas Maddison was still trying to make things happen.
The drop off from replacing Maddison with Kulu was a momentum changer. He’s badly out of form and looks to be low on confidence making poor decisions. Personally would have preferred GLC to come on instead, he’s looked more likely in his sparingly used cameos.

Think people forget he's 23. Yeah, he's in a bad patch, he'll get out of it.
Very true still young and bags of room for improvement, this issue is he’s quite a niche player. He’s not really fast enough to be a world class winger, he’s not really got the passing and vision and agility to be a top class n.o 10, he has a good engine and physicality to be a n.o 8 perhaps or he could improve as a 10 but I think Maddison & Gio are ahead of him as a 10 and I think Brennan and hopefully a new RW signing this summer will be ahead of him in that position so as much as I like him and he’s young and can improve, I’m not sure how he’s going to do under Ange longer term tbh.

Juve Kulu, at the grand age of 20 won two honour's, scoring one goal and created another in one of the finals. He has created 55 chances this season, we've taken 3 of them. He is a creative CM. In less than a full season on loan at Parma he scored 9 and assisted a higher figure. He is 23 FFS, cut him some slack. If we could make the most of the chances he creates, there would be no question about his ability. None of our front 3 last night can hold the ball up, or perform convincingly with their back to goal. Maddison has always been hot and cold. Right now half the team are off form.
Love the passion and points.

I don’t think there is a big issue with Kulu so he shouldn’t be getting pelters, he is simply a bit off form, BUT Ange should’ve brought gio on for Maddison not Kulu and long term I do wonder if Kulu can work his way into our best XI as a n.o 8/10 or if he’ll be a squad option.

Has he been told to stop shooting so often? I miss him cutting in on his left and curling the ball towards to the back posts where he'd either score or set up a tap in. I know that opponents will have got wise to it but if we get the FB/WB over lapping then at least it creates scoring opportunities on both sides?

If we are indeed going to explore options such as Morgan Gibbs-White then it does further pose the question of Kulusevski's future here.

A useful squad player to cover AMC/WR role perhaps but I dare say he will be wanting to start more games and I don't see a best fit for him under Ange or where we aspire to be as a club competing at the upper echelons.

Not saying we actively look to sell him but at the same time, I can see the virtue of parting ways if a 'too good to turn down' offer arises this summer.

This is a good point and not just Kulu but it seems our whole team are reluctant to shoot or cross from distance, seems like it could be instructions 🤷‍♂️ towards the end someone put a cross in from a bit deeper and it fell to Udogie who on his right foot hit it at the keeper, I’d like us to do those types of crosses a bit more often as the ball can drop anywhere but perhaps it’s to do with Son being up top now not Richy and us having less physical presence and ariel threat?

Also would be nice if we shot from distance more.

If Kulu was doing both of those things more he’d probably be seen as playing a bit better at the moment but seems like instructions are to get to the byline and pull the ball back or across goal as often as possible as that is how we score most of our goals.

I think his confidence has absolutely tanked to be honest. Reading his players tribune recently he's clearly a confidence player, it seems as soon as that takes a bit of a battering his form drops off a cliff.

I think a run of steady substitute appearances until he can start getting a foothold in games is required. We all know what he's capable of on form, and it's not too late in his career for it to "click" and him to perform at the highest level on a regular basis. He can be world class if he wants to be.

I don't agree. We kept the momentum going for quite awhile after Maddison went off, and thanks to Deki we initially even seemed to have more urgency near the penalty area.

Then we lost the momentum, but that happened in waves throughout the entire game.

However, I do agree that Lo Celso should have come on when Maddison went off. Deki should probably have come on for Werner.

He's still young and has time to develop his best position. He clearly has ability and work rate but looking like a bad fit to play as a winger.

Big decision as to whether he can fit in elsewhere.

I’d sell him. Gio is looking good in the 10. And if we’re looking at the Nottingham kid, no point in him sticking around.

I’d get two top class wingers instead. Or one top class and one big talent probably more realistic.

Him left wing was just as brutal as expected with his lack of pace.

Didn’t do any better when he moved to the right. Really low on confidence at the moment, looks a shadow of himself.

Yeah real odd one, looks totally devoid of confidence. At least he put to bed the idea that he might be an option on the LW that was a bit of a shocker cameo on the left.

I hope he gets his mojo back as he does look short on confidence. In the last two games when on as sub, he has been through on the left with the defence stretched and forward options supporting him and has completely messed up his pass.

I would be fine if we sell him in summer at this rate.
I know what you mean, it’s almost getting to the point where one thinks we should be giving a youth player his minutes.

I do think however we need to give Ange the summer to try and work out the best role for him in this system. I think he has some good qualities and is evidently very low on confidence. But if next season he is still playing on the RW then I’ll be worried because I don’t see him suddenly clicking in that position.

Kulu has no median. Either completely poor or completely unplayable for opponent. No middle ground.

If he is going to regress further from here, he goes on to the chopping block in summer

Haven’t he and his partner just had their first baby?

The poor man is probably desperately short of sleep.

He’s a very talented player who’ll find his form soon.
