Thats what I thought, I wouldn't have passed to him either. It’s alright, Kulusevski would have just checked back and crossed it to the GK

I think the tactics are OK but the intensity has just fallen off a cliff. Start of the season we were pressing the hell out of the opposition. Today we offered nothing and NUFC did exactly that to us. Their pressing energy kept us away from their ropey backline even though we had bags of possession, and when we got close they threw everything at us so we created next to nothing.
Massively outplayed unfortunately.I missed today, anyone able to give me a sensible, brief synopsis of what went wrong? Were we massively outplayed, unlucky, robbed by the ref, just plain shit?
Thanks
Though the pundits were giving the ref plaudits for not giving out cards first half there should have been at least 3 yellows (2 Newcastle 1 for us), that would have kept Schar in check and he wouldn't have been able to go about like he did which had a big effect on the match.I missed today, anyone able to give me a sensible, brief synopsis of what went wrong? What’s Levy got to do with our inability to defend?Levy is a master at covering up for total failure. This squad is no where near good enough to seriously challenge at the highest level
When Son/Madders messed up, I couldn't understand why Maddison ran towards Son! They were less than a few metres away from each other. It was silly movement.I thought we were going to weather their pressure then Micky slipped and then costly error by Pedro. Credit to newcastles pressure. In all of our losses that's usually the difference tbh, it's the bare minimum we ask of them.
Everyone was poor but really was disappointed in Bissouma, slow on the ball, unaware of his surroundings and a few bad giveaways.
Also the first goal IMO comes from son/Madison overplaying - we really just need to take a shot sometimes
Taking 5 years to replace Walker, Toby, Rose, and Super Jan is on him. What’s Levy got to do with our inability to defend?
We seem to jog a lot when we dont have the ball. Also, how long does it take Udogie to get back to LB position when we lose the ball? Porro seems to get back and Romero is rarely pulled out like VDV.I think the tactics are OK but the intensity has just fallen off a cliff. How do you press, particularly counter press, when you've got 8 players well in front of the ball and then lose it?
If we're going to play possession football, we need to slow down the build up, have some players behind the ball, pin teams back and learn how to play through in tight spaces.
Maddison hasn't come close to being one since his injury at Chelsea.Maddison and Son are the definition of game changers
We struggle to win headers in our own box, let alone theirs. As a side note was particularly unimpressed with Udogie’s efforts when defending corners, seemed to make a token attempts but with no intention of actually winning the ball.Do we need a physical presence up top, a proper no.9?
Ball bounces of son at times and when a defence is deep we have no dominant player in the air to contest anything.
There must be mobile strikers that can win a header in the box.
