@muppetman just out of curiosity, why you keep tagging my posts/comments as off topic??The latter
I didn't think it was a penalty. Player gets the ball easily if Bentancur doesn't duck his head into it. Player was already in motion and head went in lateI’ve not seen replays but can anyone else let me know why we didn’t get a penalty today for Bentancur being kicked in the shoulder ?
Pep said he never had one in La Liga or the Bundesliga.Ange says we don’t need a set piece coach . Watching us today and many games before that I beg to differ . We look like we could concede from every set piece .
He is the defensive coachWhat’s Levy got to do with our inability to defend?
Yeah Plan A isn't working to full effect. Many bemoaning our lack of plan B.
But is our plan A working in the first place? We are as open as ever. One long ball cuts us like knive through melting butter..
Combination of collective issues as teams have adapted along with many players just not performing at the levels we've seen they can offer - particularly Bissouma and Maddison. Imperfect storm.Yeah Plan A isn't working to full effect.
We are so poor in defensive transition we don't close gaps quick enough.
There is no way Ange is happy with the distances and being left in 2v2 scenarios.
Whilst on the ball, there isn't enough movement.
It's like earlier in the season, teams hadn't cottoned on to us, so even a slight bit of movement and we could open up a team.
However, now teams have planned for us, some players look unsure about where to go, so end up standing in between staticly, waiting for something, whilst players on the ball do the same.
Let's give Ange the summer to take away what's happening and find solutions.Spot on.
By a team with several injuries.
By a team way beneath us in the table.
Same as fulham.
With us in full strength.
What we did today was naive, the first five minutes highlighted our undoing, but nothing was done to stop that, we just let it be done.
Talk about process and time, ok, I can buy that as long as I see progress on the field, but today showed nothing of it. Bump in the road - more a mountain than a bump.
Yeah.Combination of collective issues as teams have adapted along with many players just not performing at the levels we've seen they can offer - particularly Bissouma and Maddison. Imperfect storm.
Not at all against giving him time, he deserves it.Let's give Ange the summer to take away what's happening and find solutions.
He is new to this league and will have learnt a ton.
He will have realised what isn't working and what needs tweaking.
If we get to Xmas and we still look like this then I will be concerned.
But he HAS to be given a chance to do that.
I don't think it's a total mix up either.
I think we are struggling in the final third to really click and break these teams down.
The result of that is that you are for more susceptible to counter attacks.
Unfortunately, we are struggling here too as players are not quick to close gaps or we don't press as a unit to regain the ball.
We lose the ball and you immediately think "shit" as you can see all the passing routes for the opposition and our players just don't seem to be ready.
Perhaps we commit 1 or 2 players fewer and time it better, or perhaps we just need to sharpen up.
For start Son cannot be our focal point, we are 70% giving the ball back when he receives it where he does.
Its not that we need a big CF, Son is not and never has been a player for build ups, he's a runner and finisher, a player who is nimble and can retain the ball in tight spaces is fine.
We have a lot to do this summer
OK but Arteta did exactly the same at Arsenal and was allowed to ditch those who couldn't adjust/play it.Not at all against giving him time, he deserves it.
But what's alarming for me is that so little of his play or philosophy showed today. If it's so easily countered and destroyed, there is much work to do.
A little adjustment would not derange the long term philosophy.
We could, and should have adjusted today, but didn't.
I can see the meaning of it during the Chelsea game, but not today.
It's the same concerns we had during the conte reign, not playing to the strenghts of the squad in order to play in a very distinct way that does not suit our current squad.
We had a striker, he had awful service. Isak looked amazing.... But look at the service he got.
Agree.OK but Arteta did exactly the same at Arsenal and was allowed to ditch those who couldn't adjust/play it.
That's what Ange needs time and being able to decide who stays and goes
I don't agree with you but I only said this morning that I would imagine the club are constantly on the look out for the next South Korean star as the fan base from there is so important to the club. I'm thinking a couple more seasons down the line though.I'm gonna negged to fuck for this.
I think we need to consider moving Sonny on. He's not a 9 we know that from years of seeing him as Kanes back up. I don't think he's as quick as he once was and not as effective running up and down the wing going missing more than he's showing up. Next season we should be looking to sign a number 9 and a LW Making by the end of next year Son movable. I love Son and would be happy for him to stay but the conversation needs to be had about moving forward. I would rather him go tear it up in La Liga for few years than sitbon our bench because of how incredible he's been for our football club.
Agree.
But if you look at the display today it was not because one or two wasn't up to scratch.
We didn't create anything of notice, and shipped four goals.
I think it's more about looking for progress, and perhaps seeing a clear vision, today was a big step backwards. And that hurts.
I think Ange will be successful given time, but he needs to adapt in the meantime in order to not give such displays as the one we were given today.
And even when he reaches success he will need to adapt to make further progress.
It's not only a learning process for the players, it's a learning process for him. And today showed that he's a bit behind where he should be in that regard.
