Nothing like watching Moura's hat tricks or Bale dominate Maicon. We don't have anyone right now who can produce that kind of magic IMO. Maybe Bergvall, Moore, Donley, Lankshear become one of those types. I would still love for us to be in CL, love hearing that anthem when we play.

Son and Maddison can, and have been, game changers.

When we get some desire back in the league and domestic cups I’ll start worrying about us being in Europe. Until then, it’s just more chances for Spurs to disappoint me. Well done Villa.

I'd take any form of European football at the end of the day.

I'm a Spurs fan and like to watch the team i support.

The more matches the better for me as a spectator

I take it the current European results means that we won't have 5th place as CL?

If Arsenal go out to Bayern and West Ham to Leverkusen and Liverpool to Atalanta it's all but over. Maybe City and Villa both winning their competitions could be enough but even that would make it close and I can't really see both going the distance.

Funny cause when we had our worst run of the season and were down to bare bones our only positive result was against City.

Football is a funny game and none of those 3 teams will set up to combat our weaknesses, they will play their natural game and that will suit us.

Well Arsenal and City won't let us play our suicidal high line, so we'll have to counter which is what we're good at. So I can see us getting something in those games.

Liverpool could be a bloodbath if we go to Anfield and do anything like what we did at Newcastle.

The whole "we can win the Europa league if we try super duper hard" is asinine drivel.
Agree. It’s a very difficult competition to win. It involves a lot of squad rotation and as we normally still have an eye on top four our squad is normally too weak to challenge on both fronts.

Reeks of arrogance.

Like we are some super club and the only thing that stopped us from winning it before is that it is beneath us and we didn't try.

And if we "took it seriously" we would win it.
Not for me, all the years we were in it, it never felt like a priority for the club. Focus always seemed to be making the top 4. Looking back at some of our exits in that (and other) cup competitions, you can't say we were putting 100‰ in. Not saying we would win, but the teams we've had over the years should have done better.

Literally the very last time we were in it we had a manager that took it incredibly seriously (Jose).

We played our first 11 and still got bombed out by Zagreb whilst their manager was in prison.

There will always be a fair amount of focus on the league unless we do so badly that we're in mid table to the extent that we can't achieve anything.

As long as we're in the race for the top four or higher there will always be focus on league performance.

The issue is much more our squad depth. Jose has a history of taking every cup seriously and even he struggled with us to compete in the EL.

Same as the CL - one big "league" where every team plays 8 games. Top 8 get a bye, next 16 play-off to see who plays them, regular knockout format from then.

That actually sounds like a pretty good opportunity to iron out the kinks in our style of play and give plenty of game time to all our players. We'll need a big squad for an extra 8, possibly 10 games plus likely more cup games than this year if we don't go out in early rounds.
