The main issue I have is people keep taking about Arsenal like Arteta took over this season. He’s been there since 2019. It’s 2024 now. Look at their league positions during his first seasons. Look at how we took them to pieces during Conte’s first season.

We laughed our heads off in here when we overtook them to finish fourth but who had the last laugh?
I am less worried about tenure though for this match - i am more interested in our preparation and readiness for them as an opponent.

If we carry on in the way we have been in the middle of this season, we will get exposed and embarrassed. For me, we need to be pragmatic and flex on Ange's system/ethos otherwise I can see a very similar result to last night occurring.

So what if we get embarrassed? We take it on the chin and move on. Worst case scenario we finish fifth, or maybe sixth if we lose most of our matches.

I don’t think we will be embarrassed but I don’t think we should be scared either. I actually think the most embarrassing thing is how scared some of our own fans are of losing.

My point is that you can still be brave (not scared) and still be flexible with your system. If we don't acknowledge that Arsenal have scored more goals than anyone this season in the premier league and don't analyse why or how to approach the game other than being a bit gung ho then i think it is negligent management.

I don't see much flexibility in recent matches and we got walloped by Newcastle. I didn't really want to take a 4-0 drubbing on the chin to what I perceive to be an inferior team so I hope we have analysed our performances and address the reasons why they are happening.

I think if City beat Brighton then I can see us getting a result against Arsenal and then enjoying a few cold ones watching City go to later that day when they beat Forest.

If City drop points against Brighton, Arsenal will be so bang up for it I think it'll be tough.

They are gettable, Bayern showed that but we can't let them start fast, this will be their toughest match for the rest of the season.

We took a bigger drubbing to a relegated Newcastle team the season before our highest ever Premier League finish.

We all hate it but sometimes you need to take a bit of pain to come out the other side.

Being successful is having a plan and sticking to it. One of the problems with our club is we abandon the plan as soon as it gets tough. So we’re always in a stupid cycle of false dawns and believing this time things will be different, or if we can appoint this manager we will finally unlock the key.

We did if we finished above them at 4th!

Agree but I don’t think we’re at that stage yet.

This will be unpopular but I don’t think this result ultimately matters. The same as when Arsenal lost to us a couple years ago. They were playing a longer game of building something whereas we were heading to another dead end.

We need to think about where we will be in two or three years time, not about whether we lose this match. No one will remember this match in three years time. How many people can honestly remember Arteta’s first NLD? Without googling it, how many people can tell me that result?

Respecfully disagree mate.

If they beat us and go on to win the league, everyone will remember it.

Secondly, about making a few tweaks, its not rocket science, it be could as simple as not always pushing our full backs high up the pitch at every opportunity.

The permanent question doubters like me have is about the team's character. It's fucking exhausting that it's an annual issue - certainty almost- that Spurs players will let you down. The Newcastle and Fulham performances were spineless and empty. We don't always play like that, but we always throw some of those performances in the mix.

We've been bang average for months. Not very entertaining, looked to have turned a corner vs Villa. Only to fuck it all away again within a handful of games.

Maybe the derby atmosphere will rouse us, but this Arsenal side shouldn't have too much trouble if they show up at their typical level for this season.

We are more clinical than Chelsea, who had chances against them. We will score a couple. We just need a draw lol

Well nobody has the last laugh, more like the latest laugh. Football goes on and we always have our ups and downs.

Think Maddision will need to show early season form otherwise we could be in trouble if he's similar to recent weeks.

He got bullied at Newcastle, and Aresnal are physical with lots of energy.

He'll be up against Rice etc Hopefully the occassion sees him perform again.

Id toyed with the idea PEH, Bentancur and Kulusevski as the three.

Id like to see this:

Vicario

Porro
Romero
Dragusin
VDV

PEH
Bentancur
Kulusevski

Johnson
Richarlison
Son

Think that team would match them for physicality. Also plenty of experience, calm heads.

Cant afford Bissouma, or even Sarr, to be off it.

I think it was a perfect result for us going into this game, they battered a terrible Chelsea side missing half their team having just got knocked out the cup. Arsenal love to get over hyped off the back of results against mediocre sides and then come in for a fall...

I'm more concerned about us hanging ourselves in this game then I am about them being too good for us. If we don't gift them silly goals we'll get a result.

COYS!

If they win the league it won't be because they just beat us. I am expecting us to go at them and go for it - I expect us to score at least a couple of goals. Will that be enough? I have no idea.

I'd try to use the fact Udogie is out to our advantage. Davies is a steadier player and could give us more solidity. I wouldn't be asking him to venture forward too much and to pick his moments. The main thing is hopefully to have Porro on the other side providing balance.

Another option is to play Royal left back to give us similar.
