The policy is to buy low, sell high and has been for years.
Yet we don’t have a sporting director to oversee the strategy.
A proper walking contradiction of a business model.
Great post!
I doubt Levy and ENIC share this view. We have been so close to trophies over the last 7 years but any investment as been reactive rather than proactive.
Fans will feel like the ship (trophies) has sailed.
I wonder if Levy and ENIC feel like the ship (stadium) has arrived...
Dembele was always hugely undervalued and despite his body slowing on him, there’s a direct & clear correlation between Dembele leaving and our form falling off the face of the earth last Feb. Trips is right. We should have kept him for that 6 months.
Generally m speaking he was a big game...
Completely agree with this. Very hard to be inspired by either of these signings and obviously won’t take us onto a new level.
Would much prefer Ollie Watkins instead of Milik for example.
I’d love us to start rolling the dice on some younger talent with unknown ceilings.
only thing I’d say to this, is how impressive was Eriksen when he had 12 months left on his contract for example? How impressive is anyone when they get to this juncture?
I’m neither pro or against this signing but judging one match after he’s been stripped of the captaincy with 12 months to go...
Agree with all of that. Keeping an eye on Chelsea too. If they lose tonight (City) the gap is 6 points and they still have to play Liverpool, Wolves and three London Derby’s.
I suppose what we’re really hoping is a teams form calamitously falls off the edge of a cliff similar to Spurs, Arsenal...
100% this. There’s in fact a clear correlation between Dembele leaving and our form dropping off the face of the earth in Feb 2019. Poch was right, the guys a genius.
Without medical intervention we have no exit strategy. This pandemic will be around for at least a year. This season is absolutely 100% done.
I also don’t know how anyone could expect players to play under these circumstances until themselves and their families are all safe. It’s our...
This sounds like absolute gospel. For example Dier has been very poor in a lot of games under Jose but no one could fault his effort or the fact that he wasn’t trying. The application just wasn’t there.
Quite funny that Poch gets lauded for bringing through young players, yet never gave Tanganga a chance who’s clearly more than capable and would have helped his cause.
That’s an incredibly rapid front 3 and potentially quite exciting, but probably quite ineffective when playing against teams that sit back.
We’re going to heavily rely on our midfield to thread a pass, especially with Eriksen gone and we need NDombele fit ASAP and Lo Celso to keep up his good form.
Not signing Benteke and seeing Bowen asking for a relegation clause at the Spammers is mild humour and consolation for a window that’s seen us sign some serious talent for the future but also lose the Great Dane.
