Let's All Laugh At... Let's All Laugh At West Ham

Do you mind if I PM you on this? Or is it just a general presumption? Genuinely interested as I am entering the sustainability & real estate industry.

Wrong. How do you not understand the simple concept that hitting the post is off target? If the ball hits the ball plum centre of the stick and comes back out it is off target. Same if the ball trails the line. My point being that if the ball crosses the line it is as much the 'post's' goal as...

If the ball is struck off target (hits the post), then the player has missed the target. If it goes in off the post, can the player claim full responsibility for the goal? I don't think so in your argument, as you have given such strict guidlines as to what is and what isn't on target. Your...

I understand your thinking, hwoever; if a ball strikes the underside of the bar or inside post before going in, is the off-target shot now considered on target? Or does the woodwork claim the goal?

When a player scores from a saved shot, the initial shooter does not claim the assist. This is what makes the 'clearing of the ball' a grey area, for me. Another weird one is the woodwork not being 'on target' despite the frame being a part of the goal.

In mymind we made a poor attempt at clearing, so much so the ball didn't leave the box. How many yards equate to cleared, in your view? Accidental but interesting side topic(y)

You have it right, but I'm interested in your view of when a set play is considered over and therefore open play? I see the end as when the passage of play is no longer reheresed.

West Brom.? Still optimistic about our chances, just not sure the open play thin is still going.

    Player Watch: Erik Lamela

He missed the target; so not thatsignificant like say a disputable offside goal etc.

    Premier League 2016/17

True. Even with Kane back we still need to work on our width in possesion. e have good ball players in the middle, but if we can create some width with GKN and the full backs, Kane and Vince will benefit. We had seriously strong wing play with Bale and Lennon, but no striker; now it's the...

Is Kané going to come back strong, though? This is my main worry.

    Bournemouth Vs Tottenham: Match Thread

If, as you say, the winning total will be the lowest ever this season, surely we need to try even harder to beat the lower level opponents as the lower the total the better our chances of winning the title. No good beating cannon fodder when the league is a two-hoarse race, in theory.

I don't trust Lamela enough with the ball at his feet to have him central. He's decent at give and go, but rubish at protecting the ball.

That is a big assumption. My assumption is that we need to improve on last year's performance to maintain our top four status. An improvment on last season would also give us a shot at the title, possibly. That we have already registered as many draws this season as last, I am in a postition...

I don't know what it is with our attack, even when Harry is there. Lamela has flair, and this attribute should complement our hard work much more than it does, and that is what frustrates me. It's not that the players aren't talented, but up top we still don't have that cohesion that we see at...

@Bobbins, I don't see what's funny? Or are you laughing in agreement that we drew 13 games last season and have drawn 4 in 9 this season? Predicitng the future is a mugs game, but I'm prepared to be that mug and say we'll go on to draw more than 14 games this season... If that was detrimental...

I don't buy into this argument that always comes up. Receiving the ball and doing nothing with it, and mostly losing it does not amount to a threat.

You raise a good point. Lamela sees more ball than most; however, you are wrong regarding his productivity with it.
