i've been purposely telling myself for months that the title is out of our reach, but i was very excited after looking at the table today. We've got a great first XI, and as long as we stay reasonably healthy we can keep our spot near the top of the league.
Gomes-7-Fine
Hutton-7-Got up and down well, felt like his side of the pitch was less used by both sides
Gallas-7-Did well.
Dawson-8-Commanding, led the back line very well and kept everything organized.
BAE-8-good attacking shift
Lennon-7.5-most confident and progressive I've seen him in a...
I think he's a fairly good player-a lesser version of Modric, even. He's versatile, creative and links the lines together well, though he isn't often much of a threat to score. He's a perfect player for Everton, and fits very well into their team, but I just don't see where he'd play for us...
Gomes-6-At fault for the goal, but was otherwise quite good with his punches with a good save from Drogba, a great one from Palacios and some good punches.
Hutton-7.5-Very good, kept Malouda mostly out of it maybe a bit better decision making when attacking would be nice.
Dawson-7-Glad he's...
Well, Drogba should have probably started in place of Anelka.
I don't think Crouch had any real role in this game. He's been very useful in Europe, where he's been an unfamiliar threat and able to match up better physically with the opposition's defenders and dropping into midfields that are...
Andy Carroll is as Geordie as they come and seems quite content to stay at Newcastle a long time. Good footballer though, he'll be playing for England a long time.
Gomes-6-maybe could have been able to be a bit better positioned on the goal but generally not much to do, good punch at the end.
Hutton-7-Did well I thought
Kaboul-7-Not much to do but some good tackles
Gallas-7
BAE-6-A couple of mental errors but some good attacking play and decent defending...
Why does he keep playing if he's clearly not fit? Wenger tried it with Fabregas last week on an identical injury and it backfired, and now we get it too. I think arry should have rested him today for sure.
I hope that reserve keeper from Blackburn gets in the game. Really badly, actually.
He wouldn't have looked too out of place for England in South Africa given how they played.
He forced his way out of Chelsea. He played/talked his way out of the captainship at Arsenal, and then out of the club as a whole. He ruined France's chances at the World Cup. Why would we want any part of this guy?
Sid Lowe wrote a good article about how great Messi is, but the best is the one guy in the comments who tries to say that Lowe is being disingenuous by leaving out that Ronaldo has a very slightly better goals-to-games ratio, and then everybody jumping on him...
Great thread, some amazing goals I had never seen before. I was going to mention a few that I hadn't seen before that were amazing, but the number to mention just kept piling up.
