There has never been PL season, where we have started on a positive note. There has always been a shadow of doubt or 'doom & gloom' handing around.

Whether its departure of Carrick or Berbatov or Modric or Bale, we have always started the season with on a negative note.

Even when we brought in 7 new players last season, we never settled - in fact, the two managers we had couldn't find the best XI. It was a season of never ending debacles & own goals.

But for first time in long time we have a manager who knows what he is doing & club is doing enough to support him on his job.

Reasons to be Optimistic....
  • This is for the first time in PL, we have a settled XI and have a bunch of options from bench before first game of the season.
  • Pochettino seems to have imposed his philosophy & style
  • Fitness of the side is refreshing. Last minutes of WestHam game is a testament to this.
  • For the first time, we had a well structured preseason - the gap between the preseason games was perfect.
  • Unlike last season, there is a sense of great camaraderie within the group - with likes of Lamela & Soldado seem to be part of Tottenham for first time.
  • Genuine improvement seen in last season signings - time to shut up the world about them being named as flops
  • Pochettino to his credit has not alienated anyone - every one has got equal opportunity.
  • Those who deserve gets the game time - whether its Kane over Soldado or Rose over Davies
  • Finally, even Daniel is smiling....

I am not saying, we are going to beat Liverpool next week or win the Europa or qualify for CL.

But its undeniable that every Spurs fan is now having a renewed sense of optimism towards the season ahead.

Personally, performance against QPR gave me goosebumps & a great sense of pride. This two weeks has brought back immense joy in watching our beloved team in action.

Long may this continue.

I'm feeling so happy to right now. Can't remember the last time we beat a team so convincingly, worth such lovely football. Liverpool next week will be a big test, but I have a feeling we'll pass with flying colours.

As long as we put up a fight next week, I would be happy regardless of the result.

I really like what we have seen so far but we have only played 2 teams who are likely battling for relegation. I have some concerns as to the ease which we gave up free headers from corners in both matches. Kaboul does not seem to be able to reproduce the pre-serious injury form he showed when he came back to us. I thought for the first half Downing showed up Rose's frailties and Liverpool will provide us with a much sterner test defensively next week.

Dier looks good in defense and going forward but again it's early days. Could be the transfer windows "Best Buy"

The future looks bright...... I hope we are all being positive next Sunday night Monday morning.

I'll take a draw next weekend right now.

Couple of other things that are very positive.
  1. Our current GD is better than we finished last season with!
  2. There was no Europa league "hangover" which is bloody lovely as I was fed up with a guaranteed shit performance after Thursdays.

I think that's what I was most impressed with. Will be difficult to maintain but long may it continue.

I've always been quite optimistic for this season. Lamela has been very vocal throughout the summer and seems absolutely determined to make an impact. 2 good performances within 5 days is a good sign.

I want to see us play better football and see our players express themselves, they did yesterday.

Looking forward to the Liverpool match. Very interested to see how we do against a team we're hoping to compete against this season.

Let's be sensible as well as optimistic.

QPR were very poor and pretty much handed us the game on a plate so we know we will meet much tougher opposition. We will draw some games and certainly lose some too but I am an optimist and hope we win a lot of games this season and won't be quite so disappointed when we don't.

We are now playing well as a cohesive team without losing those individual flashes of brilliance that make the game so exciting and it has to be credit to Mo-Po that our players are beginning to find understanding between them. We are already seeing some excellent rapport between certain players and it's early days yet.

We always knew that settling in seven new players was going to take time and we now have newer players who are already beginning to earn their Spurs and delight - Dier for sure, who is really something special.

The thing that has made me most optimistic is that we're playing the game at a high tempo again. We haven't done that since Harry left us, and I think high-tempo play is crucial to winning football matches.

Until the Forth goal went in we were in total control. Even after it went in we were comfortable we just took our foot of the pedal a bit.
No matter how bad people perceive QPR's performance to be I can't remember the last time when we've thrashed a team so comprehensively, not just in the goals for colum, but in every facet of the game. I'm excited

Admire the optimism but it's a tad early, last season we had the same amounts of points and there was a buzz about us before it went tits up.

Think we ought to take each game as it comes although it's nice being top and playing well.

Signs are pretty good and to look at the table now is beautiful. But we have to wait a few weeks to confirm the optimism. Let's see if we can manage these sort of performances more often and how we play against big teams. Our defense still wasn't tested too much.

Next week against Liverpool will be a very interesting game to watch. I hope we are compatitive and know how to score against them. I paid about 200 pounds for the trip to the Lane next week and I wouldn't enjoy a hammering.

We've lost to much less able and talented teams than ours in the past. Somehow I think there will be less of that happening this season.

I still think we need to maintain a bit of perspective - only three games in, QPR were really not on par at all, but that's taking nothing away from the squad on the day, they showed incredible composure moving the ball around at times and without the impatience that cost us on occasion last term; that goal had our back four advancing up the field whilst we kept possession and we didn't see the rash attempts of ambitious through balls, or belted crosses to the opposite corners. We kept the ball down on the ground, everyone was looking to be available and i noticed Bentaleb, Rose & Lamela were all doing a hell of a lot more work closing down.

They look like they enjoy playing Pochs style, they were all playing with their heads up and looking for their man, much less hit n hope passes/crosses, hopefully this is something they can get to grips with against teams that close them down more. If anything, it was a blessing QPR stood off as much as they did - gave our team a chance to get the hang of it at slightly less than full speed.

Optimistic, yes. Expectations, still none. Give it a couple of games against tougher opposition and i might start wondering what we can achieve with the team, above 5th/6th.

I'm optimistic that we're gonna be playing attractive football again. That's such a relief.

I'm not expecting us to reach the moon because we will always have to sell our best players so I will just enjoy it game by game.

So happy to see Lamela showing what he really can do. He was the missing part of the jigsaw last season.

* hope Townsend stays!

Last season we won against relegation candidates too. But there is a huge difference. We basically dismantled QPR part by part. There was a sense of strategy/tactics to it.

We scored 3rd goal with 48 passes with all the 11 players making atleast 1 pass. While QPR was woeful and didn't press us more - it just shows the discipline instilled within the team to be patient & wait for the opportunity.

Regardless of who we played or how they played, we have not seen this level of domination in recent past from our side.

Best I've felt about the club as a whole for a long time.

Last season I thought the squad/club needed gutting. Turns out they just needed confidence, self belief, a good work ethic and above all else, a chance.

Feels like a new start for everyone involved including the fans.

Small point, but I keep seeing people saying this. We haven't played anyone of note yet, so it would be. We're only one last-season top-4-club spanking away from being neutral or negative. Of course, I don't foresee this happening, but it's a very misleading stat at this point in time.
