where you got this statics? i check transfermarket (game played)

rabiot score goals - the statics say so but that doesnt make him a forward

dont trust to much in statics
You're the one that made a statistics-based argument with that rubbish post about him passing forwards, and now you're saying not to trust them. You can't have it both ways.

Sure let's not buy anyone just because of the hassle! FFS!

Only 2 players in the past I didn't want us to sign over attitude were Bentley and Adebayor.

Reading Rabiot's history I wouldn't want him either, that doesn't mean I don't want us to sign anyone FFS!

Why does it matter to you?

Nobody is putting a gun to your head and making you read anything in this thread.

If people want to discuss the possibility then they are entitled to do so.
Because it's a pointless discussion and then when we don't sign him after the deadline, people will complain that we haven't signed him even though a very well respected ITK has said a few times we were never in for him. Why discuss a player who we're not in for?!

You did. Saying a player doesn't pass forwards is a statistics-based argument, whether you quote a source or not, because it's something that can be easily quantified.

In fact, saying that, then not quoting a source, makes your argument pretty pathetic as the actual facts completely debunk your original claim. Your eyes, my eyes, everyone's eyes are nowhere near reliable enough as a source to make the argument you made.

I'm not sure that's true it'd be very difficult to get that many passes exactly perpendicular.
No, statisticians get the protractor out when counting passes. Only passes at a 90 degree angle count as square passes. Anything forward or backward of 90 degrees is a pass forward or backward :cautious:

Where did the Winks passing backwards come from? One of his biggest strengths is that he always looks for a forward pass. Now if a pass forward isn't on then he has to keep it simple. Also consider that he played defensive midfield for several weeks so wasn't as attacking as usual. I love the way he drives forward with the ball. With experience he should start picking out those final passes a bit more. I think midfielders can get a bit too much stick for keeping things simple. Make no mistake that Xavi kept things simple plenty of times. The difference comes when you suddenly pick a defence splitting pass that few players can see, let alone execute. That can take time for any player.

For me it doesn't really matter comparing Rabiot to Winks. We need better competition for that number 8 role. Dembele was great for us but his age and injuries caught up to him. The injuries to Winks and the poor form (at the time) of Sissoko meant we played Dembele into the ground. We didn't really have much choice. Now Winks seems to be over his injuries and Sissoko has found confidence so we're looking closer to a complete midfield. However Winks is the only one who can make things happen in deeper midfield but as I say he's still developing so not at that Modric/Eriksen level (not to say he will be considering how good they are but could be).

We need another ballplaying midfielder to compete/rotate with Winks and Rabiot is about the best hope at this time. For me this is a big reason we miss Eriksen so much because of the lack of the finished product in centre midfield. I would still say Rabiot is not the finished product himself but both Winks and Rabiot are getting close. It seems Rabiot hasn't advanced much at PSG and another half a season out of the team will only keep him still. Winks on the other hand has been getting better under Poch and whether he's as good as Rabiot yet or not, he's at least closer. Rabiot has every reason to move sooner rather than later because he wont develop until then.

For me if we strengthen those creative central midfielders then we wont miss Eriksen as much if he does leave. The creativity will come from a bit deeper like when we had Modric (and to be fair Eriksen drops deeper too). Yet if Eriksen stays we have him in addition to a creative number 8 (Winks/ANother). I think losing Eriksen will just mean getting a partner for Kane (like Werner or Sessegnon) with Kane as the number 10 and improving our creativity in centre midfield. So we need 1 number 8 now and another if Eriksen leaves (Rabiot and Isco would be the dream for me).
