I hope this double deal gets done soon as I really like it when Spurs sign young prospects even if they don't pan out. Always seems like there is a long term plan.

If Arsenal get them (especially Halilovic) it will ruin my summer. We can't let that happen. But I have a good feeling about this, after what Barisic said, and Mamic mentioning Tottenham.

Plus JJ confirming that we have a good relationship with Mamic. No idea what sort of clubs he's had to deal with in the past, but after Modric he'll be familiar with how we operate, and presumably it wasn't a painful experience.

Bad News, I think

This is a Italian media link, which now says that Halilovic has rejected Spurs move

Its difficult to understand from the google translation.

But if someone has better understanding go for it

http://www.europacalcio.it/news/tottenham-halilovic-rifiuta-17695.html

Tottenham, Halilovic refuses

It looked like a done deal, the passage of Croatian talent at Tottenham after the agreement reached with Dinamo Zagreb. Instead, as reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Halilovic has decision to reject the proposal of the English club, as they do not agree to remain yet another year in Croatia and most likely also to problems of engagement.

This, back in the running Arsenal, Manchester United, Inter Milan and following the player for some time.

He can't leave till he is 18 so I call bull
So he might aswell stay where he is and see what offers are on the table when he is 18.
I know we were going to leave him there for a year, but from his point of view there is no need to sign anything yet.

Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players

Article 19 Protection of minors

1. International transfers of players are only permitted if the player is over
the age of 18.

2. The following three exceptions to this rule apply:
a) The player’s parents move to the country in which the new club is
located for reasons not linked to football;
b) The transfer takes place within the territory of the European
Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) and the player
is aged between 16 and 18. In this case, the new club must fulfi l
the following minimum obligations:
i) It shall provide the player with an adequate football education
and/or training in line with the highest national standards.
ii) It shall guarantee the player an academic and/or school and/or
vocational education and/or training, in addition to his football
education and/or training, which will allow the player to pursue
a career other than football should he cease playing professional
football.
iii) It shall make all necessary arrangements to ensure that
the player is looked after in the best possible way (optimum

appointment of a mentor at the club, etc.).
iv) It shall, on registration of such a player, provide the
relevant association with proof that it is complying with the
aforementioned obligations;

U18 transfers are allowed between EU countries, which Croatia is now; whether the change takes effect immediately I don't know.
I think with Bulgaria and Romania it was 7 years before the rules were fully effective - not sure if Croatia will be under the same rules.

So it looks like we should, and this is assuming that all EU privileges are immediately in effect, be able to sign the motherscratcher right now. If he doesn't fancy the idea of staying in Croatia for another season then couldn't we just sign him now and then think of a way to get him regular football with us or another club in Ingerlund?

Again, on the assumption that he is actually keen on joining us. He might simply not be all that in love with idea. The bastard.

Not sure why he'd be so keen to jump ship immediately tbh. I know he's very highly rated and a massive talent but he's not going to be a regular starter at any of the clubs mentioned. He'd be in danger of stunting his progression tbh.

All that said, is this site even credible? It could be the Italian equivalent of tribalfootball. Let's not panic just yet. No quotes etc.

Well, all the ITK we have heard so far suggests things are/have been moving forward nice and steady. (Good)ITK generally tends to be more accurate than media sensationalism. Afterall, how many times have we read that deals are on or off in the media, only to see the opposite just days later.

They are not. Transition measures are put in place, and it will be at least two years before Croatians are allowed the full extent of the EU freedom of movement liberties.
