Perhaps because he can't join until he is 18 ?
Haha:rolleyes:

The reason the original article gave for him not joining tip 18 was because Croatia was a non-EU country but they joined the EU in July

So once again why isnt he allowed to join until he is 18?

Does not come into play until next year, I think.

Although Romania joined the EC in July, they are still restricted working in the UK, even after Jan 1st 2014.

That is why Vlad needed a work permit in September.

Basically because of the mass Polish emigration last time we have put restictions in place this time for Romania and Bulgaria,

But the daily mail said all these Romanians were going to invade us, take our jobs, take our tax money from benefits and take all our women(some of them being sex offenders as well), are you telling me this isnt true?

Especially considering we were also going to be signing his younger brother(s?). I can't see the sense in it either?

I thought those transitional treaties etc mean that after 31st Dec they'd be Ok? Seems a little harsh. They have been in the EU for more than 6 yrs by now. So essentially, being an EU citizen doesn't give you the right to move and work freely across the EU after all?

God bless sprawling, multi-national bureaucracies!

That's not good, you don't report criminal sex acts against you if its a good looking woman.
LMFAO. What a delightfully male, and accurate, viewpoint.

So she molested you then?

Yeah. But it was Ok because she was a betty.

Romania and Bulgaria are NOT Croatia. Is there a restriction on countries and in IA?

I'm pretty sure there's no restriction on him before he is 18. The FIFA rules, from memory, say no transfers under 18 unless between EU countries. Croatia is now in the EU. The fact that there are transitional arrangements surrounding immigration shouldn't matter in terms of the FIFA rules. I assume he will need a work permit, but considering he's already played for the national team at 17 i doubt that'll be much of an issue

Any more news from Croatia on him? The kind of risky yet hugely exciting signing everyone loves

Long interview the other day with Alen Halilovic's father, Sejad:

http://www.jutarnji.hr/ekskluzivno-...a-njemu-zaraditi-deset-milijuna-eura/1132578/

Basically, he wanted to give "their side" of the story. About Alen's treatment in general. About how they have kept quiet for months, but that he needs to defend his son. That what the media and others are doing isn't fair. That he gets blamed for poor results even when he's not playing. That they get blamed for being greedy, when all they want is what's best for their son.

The part which would most interest you is the Spurs talk, obviously, so here goes:

Didn't all this confusion begin with the failed transfer to Tottenham?

- From the day that Kruno Jurcic became Dinamo manager (he's not there anymore), I knew it wouldn't end well. If you're constantly insulting him, yelling at a child of 17 years, calling him arrogant, that he doesn't like to train, etc. Mocking him because he regularly goes to school and writes exams. And then after all that, comes the accusation - the problem is the Halilovic family. When Pasalic (Hajduk's young and promising midfielder) refuses a move abroad, he's proclaimed Hajduk's pride, heart and soul, and that it's because he loves the club. When Alen doesn't go to Tottenham, because the family insisted he stay at Dinamo, then we are the problem. It's written that we are greedy and that we are demanding enormous amounts of money. That's not true. The problem lies with Alen not playing. Alen needs to play 50% of the matches in the Croatian league. That was the condition that Tottenham pays 13-15m euros. Of that amount (13-15m) Alen doesn't even get a penny, he only gets his salary. It's not true that the Halilovic family demanded 1.2m euros of the transfer, those are all lies. I only asked for him to get 50% of the games in a year, because you don't go to England unprepared, without matches under your feet. Money has never been our main objective, we live well....

How has Zdravko Mamic reacted to all of this?

- I haven't heard from him for two months, that's how he's reacting! It's not my style to knock on Mamic's door every day and insist that my kid plays, but I will find ways to protect my son. I won't allow them to ruin him. He's lost a year, but another, trust me, he will not.

He went on to say how even Messi would struggle to regain his form while playing so sparingly. That Alen even asked to play with the junior team, just so that he could get some regular minutes, but they refused. He said that Dinamo's former manager Jurcic didn't have one nice thing to say about Alen in all his time there.

Have you thought about leaving?

- Alen has a firm contract, and we're not threatening to leave. However, I know how I will protect him. I'm not saying that Alen has to play, but he must develop. And that's why I'm so thankful to Tomislav Ivkovic (a manager for another club in Croatia) for coming to Alen's defense (when some fans started to get on his back). Otto Baric (former manager) has said that Alen should be the leader of this Dinamo. Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus aren't all ignorant and foolish to offer that kind of money for a player who doesn't play any defense, who doesn't (slide)tackle, who plays "private matches." If he's proclaimed as the best player of his age group in the world, yet in the Croatian league he's sitting on the bench, someone, somewhere, has made a huge mistake.

*****

On a side note, Croatia open up their U17 World Cup campaign tomorrow vs. Morocco. Halilovic is in the squad. It's a VERY strong squad for Croatia and they are expected to do well. A lot of talent and potential stars in that side. Will be interesting to see how they do.
