Fantastic quality. The HDR for the City game was incredible! Real life doesn't look that good! I think they need to offer some options for the TV app, like HD or UHD for those who's tele can't handle the UHD. I'm chuffed to bits though as it really made my OLED worth every penny.

The quality was fine but two bug bears

1) It does feel like a stream rather than tv (and I know it is a stream int he first instance) - which is fairly annoying. Like watching bein on some dodgy satellite.
2) Motion blur is a killer, it wasnt too bad but it is there and noticeable.

yeah the motion was a little off for me to, but in a different way. No blur though. In fact, it actually looked like it was adding motion interpolation processing even though when I checked my settings all processing was off ( as I like it to be). Weird.

Apart from one or two drop outs clarity and detail was fine, but could not get it to display in HDR for some reason.

Different people will have different experiences which is fair and to be honest this is how I felt with the tennis when it came to Amazon Prime from Sky, just felt like a good quality stream at first but I didn't have that with this. I personally noticed no difference between this and Sky, found it seamless. Viewed on a 49 inch UHD Samsung.

Perfect coverage throughout. Had zero issues with the service. The option of being able to turn off the commentators was amazing.

Considering I only have 16 Mbs download / 1 Mbs upload speeds I had no issues at all, watched the 1st game for 30 mins and then all the City game.

I watch via Smart Blu-Ray Player Prime App connected to my fairly old TV via HDMI, same setup I use for IPTV and basically was the same quality .

Tomorrow will be a big test around the country though with 6 games on simultaneously and 2 massive fixtures including ours to boot

I thought the presentation was decent. Not bad for a first attempt.

The resolution was fine, but the compression was really quite sever at times. I think that maybe what was causing some people to moan about the quality while others didn’t notice. I’d like to think they’ll get less conservative on bandwidth as the service matures.

From talking to a few data engineers where i work when Amazon see the utilisation go above 95% on their servers they lower the bitrate to compensate, so negates buffering but lowers picture quality.

The picture quality was fantastic for me last night. I seen there was alot of grumbling about the delay and people getting score notifications ahead of the goals happening. As someone who uses BT Sport on their tablet (then casting to the TV) this isn't someting new for me and it is a pain in the arse (esp. champions league coverage and you have a Spurs whatsapp group with mates!) but it will probably pose a real challenge for Amazon if they are to take the next step and get bigger packages.

I think it's brilliant, about time another player shook the tree a little.
They've pretty much schooled Sky and BT on how football should be broadcast in the 21st century.

This is kind of the way football should have been heading ages ago. Overpriced network television is a thing of the past. Selective streaming content is at least the present. The average viewing figures for a Sky or BT game are pretty low considering. I imagine most people stream matches anyway.

Yeah that’s understandable. I watch TV on prime all the time and quality wise it’s really good. But watching the games last night the bitrate very noticeably dropped all the time. But that is understandable given they would rather it all worked on opening night than give a few .

Regardless, it was so much better than Now TV or any other way I’ve legally streamed Football in the UK so far.

TBH its much more likely the issue was your/your ISPs end...at no point did the bitrate drop on the UHD stream for me. It was absolutely spot on, but I have a 90mb/s connection.
What are your broadband speeds like?

Maybe
70mb/s. And it stays at that consistently. Again quality wise I stream at that all the time on prime and never notice.
Maybe my 100” projector screen at 1080p is more perceptible to bitrate changes? It was just very obvious at points of contrast such as the outlines of players against the grass etc that quite aggressive compression was being used at points.
I’m not complaining, was just surprised it needed to happen at all considering this is AWS we are talking about.

Should also remember these were literally the first matches they've ever streamed, it will only improve I imagine.

Picture excellent on my Samsung 4k thingy using BT box, only problem on screen kick off time was 7:32 when actual kick off 7:30 so best turn phones off while watching as there is approx. 2 minute lag.

I watched it on my Samsung TV via the app and had no issues at all. The picture was brilliant. People in the Premier League thread were saying that if you started watching the channel early you got a higher definition picture.
