Is the podcast with him on it worth a listen or is it a load of hot air?

Personal opinion no its really not.. It Probably would have been a lot more interesting if he had decent presenters asking him the questions and interviewing him rather than the two morons who present that podcast.

Great. I fear not having CL football is a big disadvantage this transfer window. It also doesn't help that we have no money and other teams do.

Depends really - we're not out of the woods with the pandemic, so they could just be making irresponsible gambles just the same.

Never understand why people suggest not buying a quality player just because we have an ok one already in the same position or a potential future player who may never even make it.
Usually, the answer is because there are other positions where we don’t have an acceptable player or a potential future talent, and clearly only so much money to go around.

it's extremely annoying that this is the summer that COVID hits and that the effect on our stadium leaves us so short. This pandemic has hit a team that is run correctly like us so much harder than most and has probably put our development back 3 years in how it has allowed rivals to strengthen from what long term was a weaker position than us (chelsea/ united, maybe arsenal)

I also don’t understand why they’ve binned ffp and allowed this spend up it’s only beneficial to the rich clubs

Yup. Just think of the strides Ud and Chelsea have made in the last 12 months vs us. Massive relative downgrade. Such a shame.

Feels like years of hard work just eradicated

Utd and Arsenal are 'run correctly' in fairness. Utd are just much bigger and commercially profitable, although we're still one of the richest clubs in the world. Arsenal haven't made all these prospective signings yet, but if they do that's because they've done well with shifting players, something that always takes us ages, so let's see.

Besides signing Van De Beek and Bruno (who was good but the penalties definitely overinflate his impact) what "massive strides" has United taken in the last 12 months?

I‘d say Maguire and Wan-Bissaka also count and I’d have taken either of them at Spurs.

Both cost a fortune as well, we wouldn’t have been able to splosh that dosh for both of them, maybe one at a push.

*holds up sign will dance for shiny new players*

Well I'd say they represent good signings - a great signing in the case of Bruno. Meanwhile we've (seemingly) wasted a lot of money.

Imagine a world where we bought Bruno instead of Tanguy. You think the league would have looked the same? They're now in the CL, with all that brings, and we're not. And they're now way more attractive than us, and have more money to invest

Manchester United finished 4 points ahead of us last season. In no way are they miles ahead of us right now. Chelsea, sure. If we bought Bruno instead of NDombele I still don't see much difference (especially since we don't get penalties given lol).

Obviously them being in CL is huge, but they've only brought in one additional player this window. We've strengthened our weak spots so far and with a full preseason under Jose I think we're at least on their level.

Yes. And not very long ago they were a good step below us, out of the CL and with a weaker squad.

The most likely scenario here is that they accelerate away from us

In midfield wise, we are nowhere near manchester united .... May be wing and forward wise we are better but midfield and in full back options, they are better

Not sure you overrating United midfield that much or underrating ours. Shaw and Davies are basically the same - decent but nothing special. Doherty and Wan Bissaka - depends on what you want from your fullback

Utd had a rocky start under Solskjaer but they went unbeaten in their last 14 premier league matches, winning 9 of them and drawing 5. Utd are on the up and not only that they’re dominating the opposition. Whereas we had a good finish to the season but only sparingly produced a dominating performance.

Squad wise Utd’s is settled, functioning and they’re looking to bring in quality players. Whereas ours is still lacking quality and depth in key areas and we don’t have a settled first XI.

Utd now have a squad good enough to push for a top 3, potentially top 2 finish.

With the players available to Liverpool, Man City, Utd and Chelsea you would expect them to comfortably beat most teams with the title being decided on how the fare against each other.

Whereas with us we’re having to battle for every single point. 2-3 seasons ago we were also part of the elite and rolling many sides over but not anymore.

I think the saddest part is that a front 4 of

Son-Kane-Bergwijn-Dele

really rivals any attack in the league, If they’re all fit and firing there’s so much balance in there. If we added a top passer and N’Dombele really was the player he was signed to be this team would be right in it, but right now there’s just too many holes and not enough depth to be sure we’ll do enough to get top 4.
