@justinsignal

Veron played in a 4-4-2 for Utd which is why he struggled. I have no doubt that if Veron was playing today for most teams in the Prem he would out perform a lot of players.

Pirlo would walk into any team in this league and perform to a high standard because he's a world class player.

There seems to be no recognition of Pirlo's age in most posts in this thread. It's as if he is ageless and able to play on at the highest level forever.

Probably because Paul Scholes was still the best player of his type in the Prem at that age. Every player's different of course, but evidence from Pirlo's Confeds displays show that he's 'still got it'.

He might be ancient but I couldn't think of a better role model for Carroll.

Just imagine the player that he could help Carroll become.

Jason burt, journo for the Telegraph, has said we have no interest. Was pretty reliable last year

Burt's mates with AVB isn't he? Tend to take what he says to be fairly gospel.

I actually get bringing Pirlo in - we saw what having that type of player with Hud last year can change the tempo of a game and create a completely different type of chance. I also think in his position which relies less on physicality and more on mental ability then he could still get another year out of him, even in the prem.

But 3 years? As one of our top earners? Na, not happening. Just his agent using us as a name to get the deal he wants at Juve.
