Yes, let us vent all of our frustrations on Townsend for this game despite him coming on with the side being 2-0 down.

The common theme from this game, and our other matches against top sides in this league over the past year, is a central midfield with absolutely zero bite that exerts zero control over a match. You have to actively ponder if they contributed anything to the match after these end.
As this is the Townsend thread he's going to get some negative comments. He just isn't the game changer we need to bring on!

I read some people saying they hope Poch will coach Townsend to do this and that but you can't coach intelligence. Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela are intelligent, flowing, intricate players who CAN do a variety of things. Townsend does offer something different off the bench but he's never going to be anything special. It's clearly Levy's decision to keep him and sacrifice Morgan and I think this is a big risk

Its criminal IMO.

And I'm one of Levy's bastard sons!!!

Looks like he won't be joining Southampton as SSNHQ say they have made an £11.8million bid for Sadio Mane who is also a winger...

Probably made that bid right after they saw today's cameo.

Missed the fucking boat on this MS/AT stuff.

Not impressed.

All we do as spurs fans is move the hate from one player to another, all were Danny rose haters a couple of weeks back, now all Townsend haters, he may not be all that, but was not the key to today's defeat. Can't see us selling him this late in the window. We certainly need a commmanding DCM and is it me or am I feeling verts is severely over rated..

I agree with most of this, but I can't agree on Verts. Thought Kaboul was abysmal today. Fazio needs to be brought up to speed quickly over the international break.

I'm not saying he's a world beater either but i'm sorry, your comments stink of hindsight. There's no fucking way you thought that when he'd just returned to us after the QPR loan. You saw no potential at all? I'm not buying it.
I saw potential of a mid table player. Not our level. We should have sold him already. Bottom line.

If Levy is a huge fan of Lennon then chances are he's a big fan of Andros.

Not good if Poch is looking to offload either.

Of course. But he played just over 30 minutes, while our central midfield did fuck all for 90. The hatred is disproportional, as well as misplaced.

Oh....I see your point, except he was fucking directly responsible for their third fucking goal. He is fucking shit and that is an understatement. Get rid.

We wouldn't even be discussing it were it not such a well placed shot. Meanwhile, Sterling abused Kaboul on an attempt he should have bagged, but I don't see much talk of that blight.

We're frustrated, I get it. But once again the hatred is misplaced towards one of our own young players. Our central midfield is full of cool looking guys with cool names, but they do absolutely nothing to influence a game and are easily and consistently overrun by quality sides. But we continue to blame some of our attacking players who are so consistently placed in awkward situations due to inefficient play from the center.

You not note the common trend here? Despite all of Lamela's talent, what has he done in the Prem since his arrival? How consistent has Eriksen been with this midfield behind him? How many chances on goal did Chadli get in this one?

But it's all the inability to score of our English wingers' fault?

There is a common trend that has extended to this season, and it's high time we woke up to it.

I hope the people mocking £12m feel silly now. Not creative, doesn't score, should've sold him to help MS come when we had the chance

What has Lamela done? A whole lot more than Townsend. Sane as Chadli.

I'm not saying Townsend is better, but Townsend has scored significantly more in the Prem than Lamela has. The point is not to downplay Lamela, it is pointing out that there is a common trend inhibiting the production of our attacking players, especially against the top sides.

Worst count of through-balls in the league + not one consistent attacking player despite what they've done previously with other teams. There is a connection here folks.

Bottom like is our english wingers are not our level and should have been sold a while ago. All pace. No end product. The both of them.

He has 0 assists for us and 1 goal which was a cross...

Then sell him to qpr. He is not good enough for us. That is it.

You're focusing too much on Townsend here, bud. I'm pointing to the fact we have such abysmal records of forward passing and through-balls from the center, and the connection with the fact we don't have a single consistent attacking player.

IMO, it's fair if you want him off, as long as you acknowledge we have a problem elsewhere.

What is most telling is that over the last couple of years Townsend has not changed. Constantly running head down, shooting at will, terrible crossing. These fundamental parts of his game will not change. He's worked under a number of coaches and it's always the same. You reach a point when you know he won't be the player we all hope. That point was some time ago. Take the money and invest.
