I'm not sold on Milik in any case. Not that that matters to the transfer comittee.

This striker search feels like it's turning into the office Secret Santa. You hope for something good, but have every chance of ending up with a load of crap.

I don’t know why we’re writing this off based on one report. Di Marzio is a lot of things but reliable isn’t one of them.

This smells like a player we’d swoop for in 2 weeks when our main target has moved on and Napoli start to panic about losing him for nothing next year.

main target you say...

We’ve all been here before though haven’t we?
Yes and no.

I've sat and argued with people on here previously in seasons past that even though Don Baldy fucked up, we'd be alright, but last season was literally the biggest indication how badly we need insurance for Kane (and Sonny to a lesser extent) and Troy Deeney's name is still in consideration ...

The squad as a whole has had a few holes plugged - self created holes - this feels even more shite than times previous if I am honest. Fun times ahead the longer this drags out.

Nobody should forget the summer of 2018 when we were told similar things by the club about bringing players in and we failed to do that or even sell anyone. Whilst we’ve improved it the same doubts are creeping in. No sales and the most important player we need hasn’t been brought in. It’s not like it’s a surprise for the club behind the scenes either, we’ve needed another striker since then!

I haven't forgotten. The close of that window, especially that final day when we shut up shop before midday almost was both stunning and disappointing in equal measure.

The links are all over the place, nothing feel concrete an now this Bale stuff ... again ...

Multiple teams with multiple strikers and we're still seemingly just playing striker bingo without actually doing anything about it.

Can see some potential off the bench for us - could be used when chasing a game to win a free kick on the edge of the area - wand of a left foot. But as a counter attacking striker there's no way. For that we need a Daka/Thuram type of player.

I'm going to be so underwhelmed if we sign him. He looks shitter than that Piatek, and he wasn't anything to get bothered about.

Says something if the YouTube highlights (normally the hype) all mostly of him having weak shots saved, playing poor passes, or doing crappy backheels.

I’ve said all along I think we should be going for a powerful quick runner, players like leao, Daka, edouard certainly fit the bill. If we were looking for someone more like milik, I don’t see why we wouldn’t just get diallo, and diallo is still a player who can run and get in behind while also being an adept link up/hold up player. Add to the fact napoli are demanding 30-35 mil for a player entering the last year of his contract, I agree we can do better stylistically for around the same price or even cheaper.

We should offer napoli 5m to 8m for one season loan deal and then sign him next window for free... Napoli can earn 5-8m plus save his wages for one season and we can test him this season before committing fully on him

Sorry dude, i dont think they are that daft. They can get more from an outright sale now. It is like Inter offering us 4m euro for a six month loan deal for Eriksen and commit fully on him after contract is over with us.

Milik can't even get in front of Piatek in the Poland team. Well below what's required of a premier league striker.
