So he hasn't appointed one.

I had a thought that perhaps he is waiting to see the outcome of Ledley's pre-season, if he can't play perhaps he'll name him as his right hand man?

I know theres been talk of defensive coach etc... but as he has the respect of the club / staff / players etc... It maybe a huge help to AVB...

I doubt he would wait for Ledley to make up his mind about what his next role is as that could take a while. He's probably just waiting for the deal for the right guy to be agreed - although that could also take a while with Levy negotiating.

I don't think he'd want another "club icon" as an assistant after what happened at Chelsea with Lampard and Terry almost picking the team ahead of him. Obviously not linking Ledley in the same field of shit as those two, but it's a similar concept.

I dont see there being a problem with his current role. He's doing a good job by all accounts. Let him mature there and dont rush him into bigger roles.

Who was his assistant at Porto?

Don't worry - Seems like it is the current Porto manager!

Andre Villas-Boas Considering Appointment of Ex-Chelsea Defender Ricardo Carvalho As Tottenham Assistant

by Bernard ThompsonJuly 4th, 2012

Real Madrid star could join AVB.

Andre Villas-Boas is considering offering Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho the job of assistant manager at White Hart Lane.
The former Chelsea boss arrived at Spurs yesterday without a number two after Joe Jordan, Clive Allen and Kevin Bond all left the club along with former boss Harry Redknapp.

The Portuguese’s two previous assistants Vitor Pereira and Roberto Di Matteo have gone on to succeed him at Porto and Chelsea respectively and in the absence of an obvious candidate, the 34-year-old is set to turn to his compatriot Carvalho. The pair are the same age and know each other well after both working under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. Carvalho is well respected in the game and knows the Premier League after spending six years at Stamford Bridge.
The centre-half remains a Real Madrid player however and Villas-Boas must first persuade Carvalho to hang up his boots for good or offer him a player-coach role in north London. The veteran made just 8 appearances last season for the Bernabeu club so is likely to consider any offer made by Villas-Boas.

Villas-Boas will also consider promoting Tim Sherwood from youth team coach to his assistant, although chairman Daniel Levy would prefer the former Blackburn Rovers star to assume the role of technical director, overseeing youth development and recruitment.
