Tottenham Hotspur have agreed deals with Real Madrid to bring Gareth Bale back to the English Premier League on loan, and to sign Sergio Reguilon on a full transfer. Having moved rapidly to secure a club-to-club agreement with Madrid for the Wales and Spain internationals, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is now working on persuading the two players to accept personal terms.

How does this team work without a creative midfield player (like eriksen or Modric) if GL. Is injured?

Lloris
Doherty Alderwereld Sanchez Reguilon
Hojbjerg Lo Celso
Lucas Bale Son
Kane

I heard that Dele is going the other way on loan as part of the deal, probably a good move for him at this stage on his career to go to a club with the stature of Real Madrid.

Wonder what this means for Davies and sess, and also for Lucas and coco.

having two for each position is one thing but 3??? Surely there will be some unexpected moves if these deals do come off

That seems to have been poo-pooed now.
Either Madrid don't want Dele, or we don't want him to go, depending on where the info is from.

With Reguilon coming, we have to switch to 3 at the back. Doherty and Reguilon are great going forward but not great in defense. Imagine this lineup.

Lloris
Dier Toby Davies
Doherty PEH Dele Reguilon
Bale Kane Son

2nd team
Hart
Tanganga Sanchez Foyth
Aurier Winks GLC Sessegnon
Lamela Lucas Bergy

that leaves Sissoko, Ndombele, Gedson and anyone else we sign to sub on or fill in for injuries/fatigue.

Please let ndombele go the other way....
Fingers crossed.....

Too much to hope for?

Yes, this whole article is just a transfer window tease. Dybala last year. Not falling for it. I call BS.

GLC is one of our best 2-3 players. Fitting him in is essential. Plus, whilst I agree that Doherty and Reguilon (from what I've seen) are better wing backs, this system requires us to play 3 centre backs when I think we're struggling to find 2 decent ones. Toby has shown signs that he's peaked, and sadly Sanchez just han't developed since the day we got him. I don't want to see Dier near the first team. Let's go all Ardilles instead!

I agree with GLC, I put Dele over him in that first squad just because of fitness right now. Once GLC is fit, I am fine with him going in above Dele. I think Dier and Sanchez are better in a back three honestly. They know they have help behind them and would not be caught in one on one positions as often (if we defend correctly).

From what I have heard today, it sounds like Jose would prefer Bale in a 442 like we ended last season. Son dropping to
Lucas - PEH - GLC - Son
Bale - Kane

I'd be find with that as well since all that attacking power would hopefully make up for the defense of Doherty and Reguilon.

Who’s our next manager?

Don’t like the back three at all

Exactly. I agree that Dier and Sanchez are better in a back 3, but that's largely to mask their deficiencies! We need to sign CBs. Jose doesn't have an extensive history of playing 3 CBs though and I'm not sure he'll change now.

Remember when the narrative was that we weren't able to attract world class players because we weren't in the Champions League...the irony is of course we've been able to attract our most high profile signing for some time in Bale when we're not in the CL lol

Remember when Bale left Spurs to play in the CL and then we were in the CL 4 out of the 7 years he was gone. Now he's back when we are in Europa lol. I'm sure he's fine with it now after winning 4 CL's but it's just kind of ironic.
