Everything looked rosy for Ben Davies 72 minutes into Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge. Jose set out an important role for the Welsh defender in that cauldron of an opener at West Ham back on 23 November.

Hugely under rated player who will fit like a glove in Jose's 'lop sided' set up. Has always been an absolute 'model pro' about everything and it will be a big boost to have him back.

Give it 2 or 3 games till his player watch thread is full of posts saying he's not good enough to be first choice.
Nothing like a long injury layoff to make player seem better than they are to many

Personally I like Ben, always solid enough backup to rose. See how she does now as first choice

Agreed - sex-change operations really mess with a player’s form....

He normally takes a few games to get up to speed after an injury, like most players, so i hope allowances are made.

I think a lot of criticism came as a result of Poch's setup. He was expected to push up and deliver in the final third but lacked recovery pace. In Mourinho's setup he'll sit deeper with much less emphasis on going forward and not leaving acres of space behind. I think it will suit him so much better.

He is a tidy CB too. So will be able to move across from LB to help out centrally more effectively than current options.
