Does Baldini's connections not stretch any further than Roma.. I was under the impression his black book was bulging at seams with contacts, but appears to be a Roma exclusive list.

I wasn't aware you had his little black book in your hands to reference. If so, please send it back to Baldini as it seems he's running out of ideas.

Well, yeah, the prices are inflated these days as Luiz went for 50m. He had an oustanding season and their president said he values him over 60m.

Because that's how they would value him. They just signed him last year for ~12mil as a somewhat unkown player and went on to have about as good of a season as any CB could have. He's under contract until 2018 at a very small wage. Oh yeah and the market has now become inflated and all players are essentially being sold for higher than we previously would expect. Not to mention that had this been under last year's market he would still likely go for ~20mil or more.

Of course rumours about Chiriches may be to nothing, but they do seem to be positioning themselves so that they can easily sell Benatia

Already mentioned this in the ITK thread earlier this morning. It appears you know more than me on this story, I didn't even know Astori was a loan. I was trying to put two & two together and get a decent defensive signing for us. From what I've seen he appears top drawer. Any ideas what he'd cost? Be great to see us trying for this quality of player

Benatia? there's others on here that have seen far more of him than me so could give a far better view, but for me he looks an excellent, classy player, sharp, agile, reads situations well, pretty mobile and so suited to playing a higher line than many. Roma's defensive record last season somewhat supports the idea that he is a decent defender 25 goals conceded all season in 38 games suggests the team have got their defensive game right and third top scorers suggest it's not at the expense of their attacking game

Soldado was later reported as ~16m with 10+ in later performance add-ons. Benatia will not go for that price after the season he just had, and why would he leave title challenging and Champions League Roma for us anyway?
