It's easy to slag off the transfer policy now but at the time, most, if not all of the spurs fans I knew were very excited about the 7 players that we signed.

Soldado, Chiriches, Chadli and Eriksen had all played in the champions league, Paulinho had just had a great Confed cup and Lamela was being raved about after his great season in Italy.

Nobody could've guessed how bad it would've turned out for these 7 but to criticise that we bought these players is a bit harsh IMO given that you can only go on what you've seen from their performances at their previous clubs.

I don't really know what's happened to Paulinho but we could definitely use some of his last seasons goals right now.

To be fair at the time anyone could have turned up claiming to be a striker and we'd have been excited .. we were starved for so long. I do recall a number felt Bobby wasn't right and that Benteke was best suited following his electric first year. Not sure why we would pay his fee but we would Bobbys. For me Eriksen and Chadli are the only two I've been happy with. What was an error was the fact that none had played in premiership or leagues similar in style. We should be looking to the Bundesliga for Talent.

Moreno, Rodriguez and benteke, all recently recovered/recovering from massive injuries, signing all 3 would be so spursy

Didn't Soldado play as a lone striker at Valencia?

Can't hold the ball up. Different game over there. If we want the likes of lamela playing it into a c fwd he needs to be able to hold off the centre half and play people in around the box. Bony is incredible at it. It's a midfielders dream. You play it into the forwards feet, it sticks and it allows you to get 10 yards up the pitch and play again. Also it's huge under pressure. When you are under the cosh sometimes you have to smash it long it's invaluable of you have a forward to hold it up and allow the team to squeeze up the pitch. We have no one to do this let alone a goalscorer. Bony and benteke do both !

I agree. We don't have any player with the size/strength to hold up the ball or with pace to beat defenders to through balls. I bet Poch wants one of Bony or Benteke as well, since he had a similar player at Southampton with Lambert. Kane is a good finisher but is not yet on the level of a Bony type player.

...Bony was the main summer signing for me.. He's an upgrade on Adebayor

Chadli should be given a go at this position, might save us a couple of quid.

Why did him and Chadli not go up front for the last minutes and then lump a few balls up. Maybe they did.
