After seeing a few clips used on the BBC Word Cup coverage I sat down and watched the documentary on Sir Bobby. Not going to lie but it bought a tear to my eye towards the end, very moving tribute covering mainly his managerial career. The man was a true gent, loved football, won plenty and came so close with England to going all the way. Lots of comments from the likes of Ronaldo (Brazilian one) Alex Ferguson, Pep and Mourinho who actually comes across well after starting his career under him, not like the miserable prick he can be now, he clearly loved Bobby. Obviously the likes of Shearer, Lineker, Gazza and Terry Butcher with their memories of him. Well worth a watch, seems especially poignant now with England progressing. Not often a true gent loved by all comes along. Sir Bobby Robson was one. Legend!

Never heard a negative comment about him from anyone who knew him. The opposite if anything, he seemed to inspire absolute love and respect from everyone he came into contact with. But he was absolutely battered by the press when he was England manager.

Pure visionary of the game. He loved it! That young Ipswich team he created was incredible to see develop. I was a teen at the time. Felt he had to go abroad to actually express his vision of the game in the end.

Loved by the Irish after his stint as Irish Number Two. Absolute Gentleman, although you’d be pushed to know that in the late 80’s in England. The papers may have slaughtered him but their influenced carried. Even Newcastle thought they were too good for him at one point.

Not watched this but intend on doing so, but recently watched the managing England documentry on BBC, what came across was how disgusting the english media were towards Bobby when he was manager.

they all talk about him being such a legend and a true gent but they were truly horrible to him and he took it very personally. they should all be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah the press were shameful. Fleet Street at it's worst. Soon changed their story when we made the semi final though. Robson must have been so tempted to tell them to fuck themselves.

Watched it earlier... bit emotional tbh, especially the bits with Gazza.

I was going to University in Newcastle during his tenure, he was practically worshipped up there. I remember seeing him starting the fireworks for the NYE celebrations that they have on the quayside every year. From the crowd you'd have thought the Pope was in attendance. The club and city was never the same after he left.
