According to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl as a guest on Fox Soccer Daily, Brad Friedel has flown to Columbus and interviewed for the vacant Crew head coaching position.
Currently under contract with Tottenham Hotspur, Friedel has explicitly indicated that he wishes to enter the coaching ranks after the conclusion of his career, revealing back in June that he was then taking classes to obtain his coaching badges.

Fair play to him. Would love to see him stay on as a playing coach at Spurs though. Top professional.

Gomes would only cover for the rest of the season,
let's face it though, Friedel isn't likely to be any longer term cover neither.
If Friedel want to move into management then I'm happy for him and would have no problem with Gomes as no.2 for the rest of the season. Then we can look at other goalies to join next summer.
Jordan Archer is talented and add depth, if we get an injury we can always get someone more experienced in during the season

I really hope it goes well for him, he got seriously shat on with the soccer coaching and training set up in Ohio
which resulted in a bankruptcy case over here.

Godd luck Hellboy

I was actually hoping he would stay on in a coaching position at Spurs. Strange that a club will invite him for a job interview 9 months before he could join them - as I presume Spurs won't release him until his contract expires next year. Brad also seem to be good for team spirit at the club. But maybe if Levy's being offered some good money for him... ;)
However, I have no concerns about having Gomes as 2nd choice.

I would of thought we would release him if he gets the job, otherwise we wouldn't have let him speak to them.

Yes it would be fair to him if the offer is something he wants. It's not as though his future could be much beyond this season, except as a coach. Good luck to him
