Lopez doesnt make sense, if they want 65M why would Man Utd pay payments rising to 70/80m ?? It doesnt take a business mind to thinkt here is something strange there, why pay more for something you dont have too and the seller is asking for less .... Something isnt right there

Guessing the extra isn't guaranteed - dependant on CL qualification etc. SL want cold hard cash?

Thing to remember here is that JJ hasnt poo pooed BF at all, he's actually given positive update on this only a day or two back and hes not changed from that so far. Factoring in BF was very happy to come to us in summer, wages are 100k same as summer and what man u are offering, he knows everything about us so no need to renegotiate with him, plus Jose being Portuguese and legend im sure for portuguese being , very positive factors for us and in essence is the Eriksen replacement. Hercs saying just this eve saying we have a player we can but out right depending on outgoings (logically thinking thats Eriksen) we really could do a sneak attack on BF signing

Why do we need to buy an Eriksen replacement? We have already. He’s called Lo Celso. It’s a Wanyama replacement we need

When we had Eriksen we constantly talked about how we need another one to push him. So yes, right now we have GLC but we need another.

Although I agree that we do need two playmakers in the squad, we do have GLC and Lamela. Of course Lamela’s fitness is such that we can’t rely on him and really do need another option, if I had to choose between the two I’d go for a DM signing over an Eriksen replacement for this window.

I suspect we’d be able to get by without the Eriksen replacement for the rest of the season, whereas every single match that we play without someone effectively covering the back line and providing a platform for our No. 8s to work we are necessarily playing well below what this group should be capable of. It’s the bigger crisis IMO.

If you're offering less money than theybqnat, you make it seem they'll get more, even if there are conditions attached

You sweeten the deal in future to make a lower fee today seem more appealing

Whether they see the additional fee depends on how onerous the conditions are, hence there may be different proposals...

Been thinking exactly the same thing. The price being reported for Milan's interest in him is €30m (£25.5m), same as was reported in the summer. Surely it makes more sense to bring in Olmo who would bolster our options in both midfield and attack for that price than it would to bring in Bruno for the €60-70m Sporting want. We could put the money saved toward a striker or toward the DM that we all know we need yet which we never hear any links to.
Yep, could probably do Olmo & Piatek for the price of Fernandes. I'd gladly take that duo instead. I've completely given up hope of a DM, we clearly aren't looking for one this window. Which of course is idiotic.

We should be all over this, with eriksen going and alli still not reaching the levels of two years ago I would think it would be a no brainer. If United blow us out the water with a sanchez type wage then fair enough but if we have some ambition we should be in the race at least.

Bruno's best position is as a 10, in a similar way to it being Dele's best. But he can also play as an 8, in a similar way that Dele can. But, if you were to rank how good each player is in each position, I'd go like this...

Dele 10
Bruno 10
Bruno 8
Dele 8

He is better as a 10, but he's still excellent deeper.
How good do you reckon he would be in goal? 1?

Well, although the source is the Sporting coach Silva, this is exactly why we need him. He seems like a player who goes all out for his team. We need players who take responsibility and show big cojones.

With so many reports coming out that a deals done with Utd I still get the feeling we may have a chance to sneak in...
- Talks in the summer
- Personal terms apparently agreed in the summer
- JJ saying we can do a deal if we want to
- Eriksen off & replacement needed
- Injuries & replacements needed
- Dybala situation (money must be there if we want to use it)
- Summer itk saying we'd get Lo Celso + 1 more. Think it was Gards who said if Eriksen goes we'd get both (Bruno too)
- Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic

It's pretty common in large structured deals actually. It seems that they want 65M today but United are prepared to pay more over a longer period. It happens due to the value of money (and the ability to use that money) reduces over time. You would expect a discount factor of at least 3% per annum for early payment so the reverse applies when asking for credit in the form of interest.

Agreeing terms with the player is easy in this case. We did that in the summer.

The issue with signing Bruno Fernandes appears to be Sporting and their valuation, plus the terms that they expect.

We had trouble in the summer and ultimately backed off and Utd now also struggling.

Herc's ITK feels like it's about BF so I'm hoping we've been watching what's playing out with them and have been working out our own offer, probably including a player like Foyth going the other way, that we can put into play once Eriksen is sold.
