I know this sounds ridiculous but the whole team seemed rusty yesterday. No one seemed to perform anywhere near his best and there were so many poor passes and crosses. Move on to the next game and forget about this one.
I think the 10 day break didn't do us any good tbh

Yep. Which, unfortunately, does raise concerns about the upcoming 3 week break.
We have intl duty so it's not that bad I think, it's when the players don't play at all it's like wee have to reset ourselves and get back into a rythym.

People can say Foyth shouldn't have played, but the only way young players learn is from getting the minutes in those situations. And I think when you choose to play a youngster, you do it knowing they will struggle a bit at times and make mistakes and poor choices but the senior players and overall quality of the team around them should be able to absorb those moments and get through it. But when the three players around him today are Aurier the clown, Sissoko back to resembling a wardrobe, and Alderweireld being all over the shop and having one of the worst games I can recall from him, it's going to look worse. As a unit, across the park, there was total failure.
You dont risk fkin up a title challenge at the expense of giving a young player a run out.
Cup games and 30min left when you're 3.0 up are where they get their experience, not must win games.
Starting him in CL was fkin stupid frankly and nearly cost us early on.
At the moment he's too slight and just gets pushed off the ball to easy imo.
Promising talent no doubt.
But a time and a place for him to pick up experience and a strong physical game against Burnley isnt it imo.

Sanchez was given plenty of games to learn, and has cost a number of chances/goals with suspect play, it's only in very recent weeks he's stopped getting pushed about and ragdolled as he's adapted and developed his game. Short memories.....

Saying that is what fucked up a title challenge is hilarious. I'd be looking at some of the senior players first of all, and accepting that what the team does, and has been doing all season, isn't good enough to win anything.

Who up until very very recently has every game done several rash things - got too tight and turned, ragdolled by stronger players, and put the team under pressure.

He might be bigger than Foyth, but it was still largely the same type of errors.

In recent games it looks like he is learning, and coming to terms with it, but there is an example of a young player developing his game, for a team chasing a title, whose errors have been absorbed and the side carry's on it's business.

What concerns me is the lack of breaking the opposition’s defense when playing low.

Sanchez doesn't do that half as much as you're making out. Yes, on occasions he has tried to play the man instead of the ball but he's handled Rondon very well in around 135 minutes of football, as he has done with many others.

Sanchez is still quite raw and has some distance to go but he's largely been quite solid and hasn't made too many errors, especially critical ones. Foyth is clearly going to be a great player but he plays like someone who hasn't had a lot of professional elite level football in the way that he plays his natural game but that sometimes gets him into trouble. Once he learns how to be cuter and tell the likes of Aurier on what to do to help him, then he'll be much more assured.

Sanchez is a much safer defender than Foyth when we're under the cosh, Foyth will get that with experience. People seem to forget how seamless Sanchez fit into our defence last year and that we hardly missed Toby during that spell.

Were told we are not in the title race we can't win CL we don't invest anymore were not interested in silly domestic cups, blimey call me a top player I think I'll leave, history tells me so. The future is a shiny new stadium and....perhaps a manager who can get us over the line.

Don't know why I do it to myself but I've been watching their winning goal over and over and there were so many fuckups

The biggest culprit is Eriksen for being a bit of a pussy in not winning the ball. However, Aurier's clearance was pathetic and then his positional play was also pathetic

I've paused the screen where Eriksen is being a pussy.

Ahead of the ball is woods and Barnes which Toby and vertonghen seem in control

Although Rose is fairly level with both of them he isn't close enough to cover the space. Why is he so far away from verts when there is no Burnley player near him?? Why couldn't he have been closer to vertonghen in anticipation of eriksen not winning the ball?

But Aurier is a huge problem. His man is Brady but Brady is not in a position to effect play.

If Aurier was closer to Toby so they would both be either side of Woods they wouldn't have scored as Toby would have blocked the shot rather than follow woods' run

Reason they scored is because woods made a run that Toby had to intitally follow which gave their no7 space to mishit his shot straight to Barnes

Rose and Aurier where so out of position that in that instance it would have made no difference if they weren't on the pitch

Although it was vertonghens man that scored he could do nothing. If he touched the ball it would have been an og

We have a 6 v 5 in our favour but as soon as Eriksen lost his battle it was effectively 3 v 2 against us.

Now I'm certain this would be analysed by Poch but if it keeps happening then it's a problem

I think you forgot Eriksen's weak tackle in the build up. Perhaps Poch should have had Wanyama who has a more defensive instinct patroling that area. I think we need a change in the way we play build up from the back is way too slow most of the time. I will conceed we are decent if allowed to play on the break so have every chance of winning the Chelsea and Arsenal games.
We need to replace Dembele that's obvious, we also need a Zaha type player who can dribble past players in tight areas and really put pressure on defenders to make mistakes. In my view we don't need to thicken our squad with similar players to what we already have. We need different type of weapons so we can be effective against to teams that setup up in variety of ways.

Im really not sure why Poch opted to drag Winks off when it would have been better served dragging off Sissoko.

I'm sure it's because of Sissoko's physicality and in a game that Sissoko showed that as part of his game I would agree, however he showed none of that today.

So it was the wrong call and looked obvious at the time too.
Sort of agree but winks has played so much. That must of been in his mind

I’m satisfied and then some to be honest! We have a quality side who are punching above the clubs weight so to speak and it makes following the club even more exciting.

Truly competing is getting to that final hurdle. We’ve not been particularly close come the final game or two of the season during these apparent title challenges. This one was always going to be the least realistic imo. We’ll finish at least 10 points behind the winners this season which suggests not a real challenge imo.

We don’t spend enough money to truly compete for this league. We might start spending enough once settled and in the new gaff. That’s in a few years. That’s how I see it.
We do have a quality side but think we will lose 2 key members of it

Sissoko was by far having his worst game of the season for us, however I feel he's entitled to one because everybody else has had significantly more bad days than him this season.

I think Poch does this a lot though, when we are losing we make subs which frankly completely kill any semblance of shape, I don't think losing our central solidity is ever the correct sub to make, I think yes you can argue that Eriksen can drop back but we need him in these situations closer to the goal plus he showed how fucking terrible he is doing a defensive job where Winks is great at putting his body on the line.

We had options, we could have taken Rose off and put Vert out wide to bring an attacking player on, we could have taken Foyth off also and kept Rose on, I felt Rose was poor yesterday in attack and it's magnified by the 2 performances from Vert at LB recently. I also felt that LLorente was absolutely not the sub to make yesterday, Moura would have offered exactly what we needed and if you see his brief few minutes cameo, he looked like he was ready to cause them problems. All this to say, I agree with you and we shouldn't be sacrificing our midfield with 30 minutes to go ever.

This team for whatever reason seems unable to rouse itself for these kind of games. I don't have the answers but it's so so annoying
What do you mean by these kind of games? During the game it said we'd won 13 out of 13 against bottom half clubs before yesterday. It was little to do with motivation. Even less to do with a 10 day break as others have mentioned.
