In my un expert opinion none of them strike me as being worth north of £25mill - they all have question marks against them, some are in their mid 20's with limited experience. The £20mill for Wilson is where we should be aiming for. Or you go above that and buy the potential (Daka, Edouard) ...

Yeah if I'm looking at the 15 mill budget then I think Sortloth does a job. I'd probably prefer that than risk on a target and wait for Daka next season tbh.

Seems like we will be priced out of this move.

what a surprise!

They signed him for 17 million euros and turned down 60 million from a club in January. No idea what we thought we were going to be able to buy him for but I suspect it wasn’t a realistic figure.

Transfer window closes in 3 weeks, in that time we could have 9 games. Seems absolute insanity to me to not have a striker of some sort signed by weekend. It’s not just Kane, we can’t be shifting Son to ST and putting him through this amount of games too.

I think it should be added that @rossdapep already highlighted (can't remember which thread) the fact we seem all over the shop when it comes to targets (up front) with no real designated 'type' Milik, Vinicus, Sloth, Costa (?), Daka, Edouard, Diallo - it's just not a good look. Are we looking for a back up, are we looking for something different off the bench are we looking long term replacement (head start) if/when Kane fucks off?

Feels proper messy.

I guess the way they consider it is, is the value to elevate my squad worth it if it keeps me in the prem or makes me 50-100 million in Champions League revenue. I think aslong as the difference in value that success on the pitch brings, we'll keep seeing these mega deals. Some clubs will suffer for it though.

The Championship could do a lot about that by making the league more appealing (imo there's too many teams, too much of a gulf in quality) but I'm sure the PL would do something to stop any attempts to do that.

I'd probably find a league where paid transfers where banned a bit more enjoyable - not like the MLS stuff with drafts, but more of a focus on the football than the money/transfer circus that the PL is now.

Can't even watch European leagues because they're all just trying to be what the PL is, and these Portuguese teams seem to always be skint or 'financially irregular'.

Or players’ agents are just linking their players to us and we’ve no interest in any of them?

Not a single one has felt close to signing or have had media convinced it was going to happen like the hojbjerg or Doherty deals.

What it looks like to me, is Jose having targets and the recruitment team having targets which is where it looks a bit messy. I think you could split the strikers into 2 groups fairly easily. I know that Bergwijn came in as not a Jose choice and pleasantly surprised him but I'm a little concerned they're not all pulling in the same direction. We'll see come 3 weeks time.

Yeah, we'll see. Can't say I am feeling as confident or hopeful as I was a while back.

To be honest, I think the loss is the root cause of all the misery, including the ITK turning negative. I wouldn't be shocked at all if come sunday; Lo Celso is back, we get a good away win and suddenly some positive news crops up.

6 whole days? We'll be lucky if someone hasn't tried to burn the internet down in light of no Bale. :ROFLMAO:

Benfica DEFINITELY need some money in now!

Spent 80m+ on players and fat contract for Jorge Jesus.

I wouldn't be surprised if we tried the loan option with them or a cheap deal
