Is it fair that when an advantage is given, both the original infringement and any subsequent infringements are given equal weight?

The point of the advantage rule is to allow the attacking team to complete a passage of play that would have otherwise been unfairly curtailed by a foul, right?

But the second infringement wouldn't have occurred if the original foul was given. To be punished for both when the second is only possible because the action on the first was deferred seems unfair.

I think it's perfectly fine. Otherwise no player should be booked after an advantage is given.

Chris Baird received two yellow cards for two fouls in the same passage of play a few years ago.
