In all seriousness, a fit and motivated Benteke would be a real handful for defenders. If he's cheap and wants the chance to prove himself, why not??

To be fair to Benteke, he’s still a one in three striker for his career in the prem, despite his terrible recent form. Have to admit that while I remember him banging in goals at Villa and the big money move to Liverpool, I never rated him as highly as his stats would have you believe.

According to transfermarkt, he’s got 70 goals and 20 assists in 216 appearances in the prem and 15 in 37 for Belgium.

Not in any way suggesting he’s the solution, but that’s a much better book of work than I imagined.

I think Benteke at Villa was the sort of No. 9 striker Mourinho would take.

If we did go for Benteke this Jan window surrounded with runners he'd certainly be an aerial threat

Not sure about 'certainly'.

As with giroud. I don’t think we’d be signing him to be the starting centre forward. He’d be the plan b.

Now comments like that really make my shit weeks at work worthwhile literally crying ?
I’m an optimist ... he’s like a rabbit in the headlights; but if we shifted that beam of light he’d possibly get back on course ??

It depends on the gravity of the situation as imagine you are on a night out, copious amounts of alcohol and variety of other intoxicating fruits, blurred vision, and rather than go home alone you pick up the last one there that falls for the blurred charm - that is my analogy !

Kind of feel like why not just put Dele out there in the CF spot? He’s been pretty bad in buildup, so just let him do the one thing he’s done well recently and mix it up in the box and focus solely on scoring. If Ndombele and Lo Celso are healthy, we don’t need him playing deeper anyhow. I know he’s not a striker, but right now, his skill set is at its best when he’s in the box and getting on the end of crosses. Just a thought (I totally understand it’s not ideal).
