Doesn't seem to be a thread on him (as a spurs player) so here were are.

There's a lot of hype around him at the moment after his game vs Seattle, and many ppl on here think he should in and around the first team next season.

However, I hadn't realised how highly regarded he was a Barca before he was signed by us, people were genuinely claiming he could be the successor to Ronaldinho's throne around 5 years ago.

There's talent in there, and if he can adapt to the physicality of the Premier League, I think we have a real player on our hands.

In the Vid he is seen doing kick-ups with Ronaldinho, although it's in Spanish so most of you probs won't understand.

It's still proof of how good he can be though imo.

Wasn't he let go because of his stature? Seems like a strange decision to make considering Xavi/Messi/Iniesta/etc.

Looks like he could be the real deal this kid. I'd give him the full 90 against Toronto and see if he keeps it up.

I'm certain he was a few inches shorter when he joined, he's listed at 5'8" now on Wikipedia which is taller than all 3 of them! Guess he must have had a late growth spurt.

I really, really hope he makes it with us, there can be no doubt he has plenty of flair and creativity. I just hope Poch gives him plenty more minutes before any decision is made on his future. A loan could work for him but we could use him in the Europa League and domestic cups. He could be useful to bring on as a sub in the League too of course.

If his performance against Seattle is not a one off affair, he should be involved with the first team a lot more. Hopeful Poch would really coach him to stardom.

It has been said he was released because he was too small, worth noting that he has grown and bulked up since then and looks huge compared some of the shorter players

He obviously had the raw talent as a kid and it looks like he is dedicated / putting the effort in now. Maybe he just needs a manager that believes in him. Could be special.

Forgot how positive he was everytime he got the ball until watching those highlights from the other night again. I've seen enough in 45 mins to make me resent any minutes that the likes of Lennon take off him in pre-season/ the season proper

I think part of the reason he was let go was that he was a bit flash, his development stalled and him and his family wanted out as well iirc. He was highly regarded and well known at Barca as a young kid because he could do lots of skills, flicks and tricks (the video of him with Ronaldinho messing about with the ball made him well known) but it was whether he could transfer this to a match situation and be a team players. The thing is as well they are always stacked for talent in their youth teams, if he wasn't progressing then someone else will take your place.

I could be wrong, others probably know far more.

He is 22 in few months, the hype at Barca was beyond 5 years ago, when he was just small kid (cue to Owen Price). He never got playing competitive games at Barca B, never won youth caps with Spain etc., so it's rather fair to say at that point when he left for us, he wasn't highly regarded.

He played 19 League games (1.288 mins) at Arouca last season scoring 1 and having 0 or 1 assists pending on source. He also featured on 5 domestic cup games (357 mins) scoring 1 and having 0 assists. Wouldn't hold my breath regarding any sort of breakthrough.

What I like is his quick passing. He sees the pass, fires it in and then continues his run to show for the ball once more. It's this quick give and go passing that we lacked so much last year. So slow and laboured last season and in that video alone you can see the trio of Lamela, Ceballos and Soldado with their one touch pass and movement. I like him. Lots more to see and improve on but he has the tools.

Regaradless, while I agree, my point was not that I expect him to make a miraculous breakthrough, it was more to prove that he does have natural talent, which can't be taught.
