Is this the start of our transfer activity? We still have the funds from Defoe and Livermore.

I really don't expect many signings at all this summer but a few departures more. Think poch has been brought it to oversee the transition of youth to first team and I'm more than happy to give the guy and the kids support.

We've got a big squad that needs thinning giving the kids a chance to come through eg Carroll, Townsend, Bentelab, Velk etc

Bit sorry to see sig go though, always a worker with a decent amount of ability...rather keep Holtby though

I'd honestly be happy to start the season with:

Lloris
Walker Verts Vlad Fryers
Capoue Holtby
Townsend Lamela Eriksen
Soldado

Beast is missing because I think he may be on the way out. With the other kids plus Paulinho, Chadli, Ade, Kaboom, Dawson etc I'm pretty optimistic without a single player coming in...just my opinion though, probably wrong

Good luck to him. Knowing Levy we'll probably receive about 10m for him if add-ons are factored in.

That team right there, that's shit. No offence.

But I wouldn't play that in the qualifications round of the Europa league.

Not sure I entirely agree
Spurs cannot afford to slip behind
Of course give players a chance. Barclay ( of Everton) is an example of making sure talent surfaces but the youngsters have to be good enough

We need to buy and it has to be quality. Only need one or two

Sigi is just not good enough for a top 6 side unfortunately

don't agree with this. More important than signing new players is getting the players to play together as a team with the right tactical philosophy. That team there is a talented bunch of individuals that could be a great team if coached right. and that's surely the reason we got Poch and the direction we want to head in. i don't expect much incoming activity at all, and wouldn't be scared of starting season with players we have and trusting in Poch.

I will miss Siggy. He is the kind of player i always like to have in the team, he can slot in anywhere. Behind the striker, center of midfield, even wider areas on the wings.

But he hasn't really excelled during his time at WHL, wish him all the best.

Didn't know you worked in the Spurs finance department? CPO for Archway cost nothing?
We may have a £bn in the bank or nothing but don't assume.

For me, Fryers is a prospect albeit a good one - I think a solid left back is what we need transferwise. Vlad / Verts and Walker are all starters for me. I'd probably go with Townsend / Lamela duking it out for the right winger spot as Lennon winds it down. Eriksen and Holtby can compete for the No.10 role / rotate in cup games. Chadli is the main option for the left wing provided that Poch gets his form in check. The two defensive midfielders can be pooled from Paulinho, Sandro (if he's around), Capoue and Bentaleb. 100% agreed with you on Soldado. Contrary to popular belief, he's just inches away from being a top class striker in the Prem. He's one that Poch needs to work his magic on, but I'm comfortable with Soldado, Ade and Kane TRULY competing for the striker spot(s).

If we get a solid left back and Poch can get the best out of Lamela, Soldado, Chadli and Paulinho we'll have a squad that really cooks!

For me this is a silly decision why sell a goal scorer it just doesn't make sense

I like he,and think hes a good player ....however he's best behind the frt man and that position is filled by eriksen and maybe Poch thinks Holtby is better in than position aswell so .....game time for him would not be much and we also need to move some on.
sorry to see him go ....but do think we're covered with decent players for where he plays.

If we get 8-10 mil....its then a decent amount to go towards areas we NEED better so ......

That's a 7th place team line-up i.m.o.We have to strengthen more at L.B. and Sandro - or his equivalent - should be at centre-back, plus Ade - or his equivalent - up front.

Yep and it isn't like we are going to replace him. But it's Poch's decision, if it turns out to be the wrong one, he's going to get shit for it.

I understand your scepticism but I can't agree, if you break it down individually it's a very decent side

Lloris - nuff said

Walker - quality and fits poch's system perfectly

Verts - get his attitude right, quality

Vlad - seen enough to believe he has a chance to be outstanding, plus with all the noises out of white heart lane saying kaboom is fit plus daws; more than happy with those 4

Fryers - slipped a bit in the last couple of years but has everything to be an attacking fullback, pace, power, decent touch, the lot. Plus Fergie thought he was the next best thing, id take his opinion on youth players over most

Capoue - was superb before his injury and I expect him to pick up from there

Holtby - only had a limited number of games in his favoured position, deep lying playmaker. He's aggressive, strong, gets round the pitch well, can pass and has an eye for goal, really like him

Townsend - raw but the boys got potential and I'm happy to give him the chance

Lamela - so so much potential it's unreal, looks raring to go in preseason and has a lot to prove, really expecting a lot from him

Eriksen - nuff said

Soldado - nats dick away from being a top top striker in the prem, gets of to a good start next year after acclimatising and he'll fly

Anyway just my opinion but can't see how it's a shit side by any means, loads of potential, just needs the platform to perform

Sorry - I agree with Mattspur on this insofar as that lineup isn't good enough. I wouldn't agree it's not good enough for EL qualifier but it's certainly not good enough for the Premier League - too many passengers.
Soldado, Capoue, Lamela, Townsend & Chiriches have all shown flashes but not done it consistently as yet, whilst Fryers is an unproven kid. You could accomodate one, perhaps two, of them in a stronger lineup, but not five. Someone like Verts will start losing interest again.

It'd be OK for the EL, but for the PL we should be looking at:

--------------Lloris------------
Walker---NewDF---Verts-Davies
--------Capoue--Dembele------
--Lennon---Holtby---Eriksen----
--------------Remy------------

I have assumed Sandro is off and Ade missinng start of season due to illness. I have also assumed we sign Davies (looking close), Loic Remy (if Arsenal sign Ballotelli in addition to Sanchez they won't want him and he'll join us) and a new centre half (would still like Lovren).

Had thought about Chadli in the middle and unconvinced by Lennon on RW in long-term but his rivals (Lamela, Townsend), whilst bright prospects, still haven't done enough to claim his place quite yet - he does link up well with Walker and his crossing is better these days. As this is a lineup for the start of the season I left him in.

Out of that team, for now, the only ones I'd give time of day to are Lloris, Eriksen and walker. Vertonghen needs to re prove himself. Lamela has a LOT to prove.
The rest are astonishingly "meh"
Capoue did nothing of note in understandably limited games.
