I'll raise you the excuses that no striker wants to come to Spurs when Harry Kane is here and that it's more difficult for prem clubs to get deals done if you like.
Completely disagree. Strikers have been willing to come here to be a backup we've just gone cheap/haven't scouted well in bringing them in. Danny Ings would be fucking thrilled to up his salary and play at Spurs... just like he did at Liverpool, Callum Wilson same, you name it. Kane has to be rotated more.

This transfer just further proves to me the whole mantra that there aren't good players available in January to be an absolute farce and just an excuse. Haaland, Olmo, Van Dijk, Laporte just in the last few years incredibly talented players moving in January. There are so many clubs across the globe that are constantly open for shop.
You'd be happy to offer the likes of Olmo and Haaland release clauses in their contracts so they get to move when a fee is met?

So we become a selling club again? ...

I can't keep up with what the fans want.

Look at clubs like Dortmund, Liverpool, Atletico, Leipzig for examples it's not necessary becoming a selling club in a negative way but selling players to evolve the club all those three clubs do this really well and are examples we should be following.

Don't know about Olmo having a release clause but Haarlands one doesn't kick in for 3/4 season and reckon it will be reasonable high amount which Dortmund will know doubt use to invest in another young star or stars

So you want us to sell players now?

I was going with you on the excuses people pull out why we can't get deals done

Haaland wouldn't have come here but who says Olmo would have asked for a release clause to play at Spurs? They ask for release clauses at those clubs because they want to be able to move to top clubs (like Spurs) where we'll pay more wages than 95% of clubs out there. Did Lo Celso ask for a release clause? Sanchez? Ndombele? All as big/bigger prospects than Olmo.

... But then they have to start again, don't they?

Why didn't he jump to a top club then instead of signing for RB?

We were all very happy to take Alderweireld on even though he had a shitty release clause, we benefited massively and ended getting him on a new deal. Even if we hadn't we were better off for those seasons he was with us.

Yes certainly over what's left of this transfer window would like to to see at least three of our squad moved on (Victor, KWP, Rose).. on top of Eriksen leaving

Then in the summer think there are other players who could easily follow the likes of Dier, Winks, Jan, Aurier possible Moura.

Seems like RB was the only one in for him. How many top clubs are actually out there being active right now that would be a step up from RB right now, who ya know are the leader of the Bundesliga right now..?

For a young player they are a very attractive club to sign for, Also in with very realistic shout of winning Bundesliga
... because they happily offer clauses in contracts making it easier for the player to continue to earn top dollar, his agent as well ...

We're back to commoditities again aren't we?

Because we can likely offer 3x the wages that RB can. Again, none of the huge prospects we've signed in the last few years have asked for release clauses so why would Olmo? RB sells themselves to players on development and being OK with the fact they can move on after a few years, hence a release clause is a reasonable and normal request at those clubs. Its not at Spurs.

At the time of the transfer I saw “Apparently” Haaland will have a Realease clause that will kick in in the summer. Which is one of the reasons he went to Dortmund

So why have we missed out then?
