But would you get them for £16mil? sadly on my list we wouldn't.
I'm not really sure there is much to the Welbeck chase in the end, it may or may not have been a good idea to buy him, I was for it though not too bothered, but once the Arsenal came in for him I'm not sure there's much we could have done about it.

I think we would pay less than £16M for Konoplyanka or Jay Rod, but in general I agree with your post. I wouldn't have hated it if we bought him as I think he's a decent fit for Poch's system but I certainly wasn't about to slash my wrists when he went to Arsenal. I think £16M is about £4M too much but then Arsenal see him as a striker whereas we would probably have played him at AML. There'll be plenty of both better and worse buys when we look back at the window at the end of the season IMHO.

Nugent has a 1 goal per game strike rate for England. He's up there with Bill Nicholson and Francis Jeffers.
In fact, Jeffers would be the better bet (for Levy) as he is a free agent.
