Another 3 points at the weekend and not an easy 3 points as Sunderland actually have the 9th best home record in the Premiership and have won half of their home games.

You don't get any prizes for where you are at this stage of the season but with just 9 games to go Everton are on target for 73 points, which is incredible. They are in fact the most in form team and top the Prem table over the last 8 games where they have picked up 20 points out of a possible 24.

They have picked up the same amount of points away from home as Utd and Arsenal and I have to say that Moyes has done it all with a pretty small and average squad and also whilst playing in Europe.

Part of me wants it to be us who breaks the top 4 first and gets a CL place but I have to take my hat off to Everton, they are having an amazing season and I now hope thay they do it.

I just don't think they can keep up the current pace and the fact Liverpool have been rubbish and are still right there with them but are now finding some form would make me think that Liverpool are strong favourites for 4th.

Mind you, we could decide it on the last day.

We have Liverpool on the last day of the season right?

I'd love for us to hammer them, meaning Everton go into the Champions League ahead of them... just so I could see the look on Gerrard's face, and all the deluded pool fans...

Still a long way to go yet tho!

A victory over Liverpool would be so much sweeter if it cost them a CL place, and it's not impossible that they could be playing for the UEFA place. I know that their form has picked up lately, but how cool would it be to see them finish 6th and miss out on Europe.

Don't get my hopes up

One of my best mates is a Liverpool supporter!

I'd be pretty happy with that!

Liverpool, no trophies and not in Europe
Spurs, UEFA/League Cup... and in Europe

Uncanny. I just posted this in the other thread:

I would actually like to see Everton pip Liverpool for 4th. Previously I'd thought (i that completely selfish way) that I wouldn't want any other club outside the top 4 other than us to do it (my logic being that it would help that team and make it even harder for us at a time when we seem closet) but Everton are not run like Villa or WestHam or ManC - ie they have'nt ploughed some despot millionaire's slush fund into getting where they are - just great management and hard work - and it would be great to see Liverpool start to shit themselves and unravel a little.

By the way. What odds Everton pipping them and then Liverpool winning the bloody CL again and nicking their place.

I don't always enjoy watching Everton but I think Moyes is a fantastic manager.

Agreed. Moyes has built a system that's very hard to score against, and that enables average EPL players to come into the team and do a job.

As a football purist though, I'm glad he's not our coach. Their game plan is based on stopping the opposition playing through hardworking but limited CMs (Carsley, Phil Neville, Gravesen), and trying to get the likes of Tim Cahill on the end of crosses or set pieces. Cahill has an excellent spring and goal record, but he's not a great passer and can't really play CM in a 4-4-2, so Everton usually play that 4-5-1 formation.

Moyes' quality passing midfielders, Arteta and Pienaar end up on the flanks - which for me is a bit of a waste. Unfortunately, if Everton get CL football, we won't get Arteta. If he did become a Spurs player, I'm pretty sure he'd play CM for us....

I know a few Liverpool fans but no Everton fans. I just dont like Everton for some reason. That on top of Liverpool being a 'top 4' team and having the potential to stop Ar*enal winning things make them all good in my book!

If Everton gets 4th place in place of Liverpool, there're not likely to sustain and lock up their place in the top 4. Keeping Liverpool out will likely damage their finances and limit their ability to spend on good re-inforcement.

This combination of events will be advantageous for us to go past both of them in the next season or two.
