Fuck know's which formation and personnel Roy chooses now - that's got to be a humungous concern going into a knockout format and not knowing your best team and system to adopt.

As for Wales, fantastic performance and should have been even more emphatic.

Unity as a team, strong spine with Allen in particular having a super tournament and Bale who can bring the X factor at a drop of a hat - if we get to draw say Albania or Norn Iron then we'll take that all day and we'll relish the task.

At least Roy has a full week to prep and for the players to get full fitness. Last game of the 1/8s.

More Spurs players are needed in the team ... or rather ex players. Add the two best players at the Euros, Modric and Bale to our five then the trophy would be in our hands. Watching this tournament makes me realise even more why such players are needed; why Madrid did everything to get them

This is the weakest squad we've had in years and actually being completely unbiased aside from the Spurs lads plus Harte, Llana, Sturridge and Possibly Barkley the rest are pretty bang average.

Yes Kane isn't having best tournament but if players behind him aren't set up right it's not gonna inspire him.

We've usually had a wealth of quality centre backs and engine room players but really lacking that in this team and our wingers are awful as well (although Townsend should have gone).

Henderson is a very average player and Wiltshere's attitude just plain stinks plus he's probably not even got into his groove having been out all year.

Sterling should be a lot better then he is but either it's his attitude or he's not being utilised properly or maybe even both.

I think we miss Wellbeck too as he's always shone at international level in a wide attacking role.

We really need to set out in a proper 4-2-3-1, none of this 4-3-3 bollocks, and play people in their proper positions so the side is balanced.

only saw the last quarter of the game, but Slovakia made no effort to score. the new format has to go.
24 teams are 8 too many. As 53 teams started the qualy stages, a team's chance of getting to France were slightly worse than 1 in 2, which meant some pretty uncompetitive qualifying games. Having 16 teams from UEFA's 55 member nations would be more realistic, in my opinion.

Couldn't we also face Poland or Croatia? If England get Hungry or Iceland and Wales play Croatia that'd be a joke. (Though I don't know how likely that is)

Hopefully, like you say, it's Albania or NI

Clyne was probably England's best player tonight, alongside Dier. There's no way he was miles away from Walker. Bertrand was ok, not as good as Rose but he wasn't the reason England didn't win tonight.

Completely disagree but that's fair enough. Dier was so much better than every other limp dicked loser on the pitch it doesn't warrant a debate. Clyne was fine but helped massively by Slovakia having the shittest left side I've seen this tournament. Walker would have had a field day against that dog shit left back

Could anybody explain to me why Henderson played the 90 minutes? That entire 2nd half Slovakia were camped inside their own box, having a relatively limited attacking player like Henderson on the pitch was a hindrance to England's creativity.

Lallana, his end product has been suspect, but I think he's been one of Englands better players and certainly on of the most creative. He should have been kept on and Alli should have replaced Henderson instead.

Well it's always going to be difficult to get any cohesion when you keep changing the starting line up every game. Impossible to build any team spirit and momentum. Doesn't help when you're contract bound to play a fat over the hill Rooney... who when not in his natural forward role is merely an average midfielder.

I lay it all on hodgson, clueless old codger.

Not sure why people think we only had created one chance I can think of three good ones.
Thought Clyne had a cracking first half but was blunted when their coach brought on a defender against him.

I think Walker and Rose put in a lot of effort in the first 2 games, I don't have any problem at all with them being rested yesterday. They'll be back in for the next game.

And just because their left side was a bit weak doesn't mean Walker would have created more chances or scored. Clyne actually created multiple chances and got into a good position to almost score himself. He only went quiet when their coach brought on a second left back.

I keep seeing and hearing the press and media slating Roy for making 6 changes to the starting line-up, but then they're also saying he should have kept the same team against Wales. Just looking for something to moan about imo.

Coming second in the group not the worst thing in the world considering the possible opposition in the next round. If anything Roy's problem will be who to start in that game, the back 5 plus Dier picks itself. But nobody has excelled in the other midfield 2 positions or upfront. Possibly with the exception of Lallana but he's just not a big enough goal threat.
