If a player decides to run is contract down and clearly doesn’t put the effort in like before they’ll run the risk of being booed.

Fans can see when they’ve been short changed.

Its not all Eriksen fault though, I really don’t understand why his always picked having shown no desire for such a long time

Hughy: Spurs fans do not deserve to have to watch players who don't want to put in an ounce of effort.

Modric and Bale weren't booed when we knew they were leaving. They gave it their all until they got their transfer. If Eriksen had gone about it this way he would get a hero's reception every time he came on/went off the pitch.

And he has performed below his best for over 12 months

And you don’t think that could have anything to do with the whole squad being dreadful to watch for the past 18 months? Just Eriksen huh.

The whole squad hasn't been dreadful for that length of time. Some of the squad have been and as a team we haven't been great and Eriksen gets a lot of the blame for this - His job is to make us tick, and that just hasn't been happening. Is it solely Eriksen's fault? No. It doesn't help that he half jogs around looking like he doesn't give a flying fuck. That's a major part of why the fans have turned on him. You can see some players clearly putting a shift in - If they're shit but trying fans will give a bit of leeway.

It used to just be his corners that I annoyed me, now it’s just everything about him. I can understand players sticking up for their mates, but he’s just taking the wee wee out of us.

We haven't seen the whole squad drop off as far as commitment(in games) and effort is concerned though.

I remember reading that his performances dropped in his last year at Ajax as well.

You know he will be absolute quality for inter.

I normally don't go for the "no passion, not trying argument" but against Liverpool, Eriksen wasn't trying. He shirked out of a tackle in the first half that he was favourite to win. Quite clearly, he was protecting himself against any risk of injury and had no business being on the pitch. He was a disgrace to his profession that day.

I don't like it but I can kind of take the drop off in performance levels from the squad because I think it's a result of mismanagement and the squad has just decayed. There is no one else that I look at and think they don't care or aren't putting it in.

Eriksen isn't and that's why he's deservedly getting it in the neck.

Everybody seems to miss his other quotes from the same piece...

"Christian did? I didn’t think Christian got booed, to be honest. I was on the pitch and I did not hear anything so it much have been very small amount of fans," said the versatile player.

Guess that doesn’t make as good a story ?‍♂️

What I found astounding is that people are still trying to justify non commitment of Eriksen in any other profession you would be sacked for not putting the effort unfortunately the way football is you can't sack someone for the reason that the way football is set up you would in essence be throwing money down the drain so to speak and any corporate would not allow that.
You would have some sympathy if they were on minimum wage but these players are payed vast comes of money and as a professional the minimum requirement is effort . I take Ramsey as an example of a real pro he new he was leaving Arsenal but played full out in every game he played . Top man in my eyes . As for Rose he just seems to want to damage spurs in any way possible . The day these two are out of our club I wii give a big sigh of relief .

this is why we should have got Grealish that Summer, get in a playmaker to replace Eriksen or put some pressure on him.
he has been getting pick so often when not deserving.

I don’t think there are many people who support spurs who can’t say with total honesty that Eriksens performances have been dire (not Dier) for some time. He used to be the creative hub of the team. And now he is a passenger. The crowning turd for me was against Watford. When he actually covered his face when a chance to challenge for a header when he came on. What pisses me off is however “quiet” he is keeping on his move. He has diminished. And he shouldn’t be getting game time at the expense of someone who is committed to the club. It sets the wrong agenda for the other players. So thanks for the service. You truly was a great player for us in your pomp. But that time is over and you are killing your legacy. I’m sure you couldn’t give a shit. But I do.

I'm not so sure about that. Their commitment to ovrall aerobic fitness has dropped dramatically. Eriksen's has not by contrast.

The other thing with Eriksen is that there's no way he can risk going completely flat out. That's just a consequence of his contract position - and therefore not his fault as he made it clear to to the club that he wasn't going to sign another contract.

If he gets injured - like an ACL - he's completely fucked. No contract at Spurs to fall back on and no club will take him while he's crocked. It's just ludicrous to expect him to risk injury under those circumstances.

100% agree, Good Sir. I would argue that it's only really Eriksen that has dropped off in terms of commitment. On a major level anyway.

Are you a family member?? Seriously. I really don’t get your blind support of him. He has been awful for many many months & frankly pathetic in the our 2 biggest games. I get he’s your fellow countryman but come on you can’t really believe he’s been playing ok. He has stunk up the shop more often than any other player in the squad yet somehow gets picked again and again.

It's the perfect storm of not being at his best and running his contract down. I just want him to move on because he's not staying and it'll free up a place in the squad. I find it hard to get actually angry about it.

People keep saying compare to Ramsey.
But Ramsey only really performed after he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus, and therefore had guaranteed his income for the future years, prior to that he was in the main injured. He only started 13 games last season.
Eriksen has never been the greatest tackler, and I can understand fully in his situation if he is a little more timid, as he certainly is not wanting to be injured until his future is secured.

Everyone moans about not beating the first man at corners but The straw that broke the camels back for me was CL QF 1st leg when he hit a free kick in to Sterling’s midriff. Sterling’s fucking midriff!!! He’s about 4 foot 2!!! Utter laziness
