I can only assume he’s heard we’re not going to lodge that bid / agree a fee today - otherwise I’m not sure how he comes back from that with any credibility ?
I was told yesterday evening there was no deal agreed but it was very close. Could just be that my guy is behind the timeline of others on this one, but either way I don't see this dragging past the weekend.

Feels like another one of these situations where the player is on holiday until the start of next week, the deal is close to agreed, but no incentive to hammer out the last details until he’s actually back and ready for training. papers need to squeeze a few more stories out of it so they’ve been pretending like it’s high stakes back and forth constantly

Ally Gold on his podcast said he's again confused by the latest reports as he understands a fee still hasn't been agreed/is close.

Ali Gold hasn’t been first on anything this summer tbf. He’s obviously reliable but I don’t think him not hearing something necessarily means it’s not happening.

Said the same thing about Lenglet not being a priority yesterday and then it broke everywhere.

Wonder whether there might be the '...and for this much you get him for preseason' fee, and the lower 'OK, we'll take the money then' fee, and Boro are fairly sensibly going to keep on the first one until its natural built in expiry date, at which point the second one becomes doable. Just speculating.

Personally I think it’s astonishing they want 20 million for him. Loaned him out last season. He has no Premier League experience. Only 2 years on his contract. I know there is the English tax but I think their asking price is crazy.

And that is why its taking so long, I am guessing the only thing being held up is the sale of Winks one home grown in one out balance the rule book

There must be a reason why we’re quibbling over the odd million here or there, as daft as that sounds. Must be some doubt, perhaps time to walk away?

Not so sure about the "some doubt".

Iirc correctly, Forest (maybe others) were quoted less than Spurs. Why should we have to pay more ??

Money wouldn't last long if we just paid what every Tom, Dick and Harry wanted, especially when others have been quoted less.

Or we are confident that noone else is going to pay what they want and Spence wants to join us.

I'm sure they will want the 15m or so to strengthen other areas
