Evidently we're battling it out with Arsenal over the Getafe defender Djene Dakonam. Monaco have already gotten their bid rejected.

He started out in Togo and has gone to Spain via Cameroon, Spain and Belgium. Never heard of the guy. Oh @Spursking where art thou?

Haven't we been linked in the past?

Also, the he is the most expensive player on that agency's books.

Who ever got this story floated and the amount of teams he has been linked to in it, should take a few quid from petty cash, top work.

If he’s a Djene then I say we buy him.

We can then use our 3 wishes on a RB, a DM and a backup striker.

A player I was afraid Arsenal were going to sign last summer, really think he could help them a long way. I’m not all against this, even though he’s definiteley no Koulibaly I don’t see him as a much less exciting option then Umtiti for example.

He’s 178cm tall and 72kg. Good player but tiny.
Puyol and Cannavaro were both 1.78 or shorter.
Mourinho also used Cordoba pretty often at Inter, and he was only 1.74. Mascherano, also 1.74, was a CB towards the end at Barca and won a few titles.

If a CB is athletic, aggressive and reads the game well the height issue can be overcome imo.

I mean I completely agree, nothing against the guy just because he’s short. However he suits la liga. Stick him in the prem with Carroll, Wesley, Deeney and he will struggle in my opinion. Especially considering he’d be paired with Toby who isn’t the best in the air.

Could be more the fact he can play right back as well, and then slide in when we're in possession of the ball, seems to be something Mourinho wants to do, hence when he mentioned the loss of Davies being problematic.

I'm just spitballing to be honest, with all the chatter on here it's something to at least factor in with all these links.

Very true. Sanchez is 1.87 yet he can’t win a header and how many times do we see Lucas Moura win a header up against CB’s? Lots!

“If you wanna get with me, Levy there’s a price to pay. I’m a Djene Dakonam, you’ll need an EasyJet to Spain”
