Tottenham are poised to make a move for Roma defender Dodo when the transfer window re-opens next month.

The north London club have already done business with the Italians during the summer following their club record signing of Erik Lamela.

Tottenham's technical director Franco Baldini has a good relationship with his former club and is believed to be targeting a move for the talented full-back.

With Danny Rose returning from injury and Jan Vertonghen out until after Christmas, Tottenham are keen to bring in another left-back and strengthen their defence.

Dodo, 21, was linked with a move to Manchester United back in 2010 but the move never materialised and he opted for a move to Roma.

Despite Tottenham not having a manager at the moment, Baldini is working hard behind the scenes and they now appear the favourites to clinch his signature in the New Year.

No thanks, rather have BAE back.

Can we please refer to him as Benny for now on? In America, people have managed the WORST shortened term of all time and turned "babe" into "bae" and I cant fucking take it anymore. A) The term sucks and B) I always think of Benoit Assou-Ekotto when I see it and he is clearly not a babe as he is a man. Every time I now see "bae" it makes me hate myself even more and takes 5 years off my life.

Anywho, as for this dodo guy, do we mean the left back or a dummy? If we mean the left back, we already have Danny Rose and we can recall Benny. We also have have Ky...not even worth saying his name. Sell him please. Or keep Naughton as cover for Walker.

One of my favourite in Football Manager few years ago
It seems that he has not been improved enough as expected in real life

Watched Dodo a couple of times recently and it struck me that he looked like a left back that really likes to run up the wing and get a cross in.

Looked great going forward, didn't really register good or bad defensively...

Well all know what kind of jokes he'll bring to the club (not that I would care about it).
I'd still go for Rodriguez myself but I won't mind a Dodo at the club.

Quality player but we have two very solid options at LB if we recall Benny and keep Rose, both of whom are much more settled in England and with the squad. Not to mention that I'm not sure Dodo would look at a Roma exit as beneficial for him right now, they are challenging for the Scudetto.

DaSpurs Stamp of Approval, every word.

I'd be interested if BAE's deal was for the entire year. However, given 'Arry's recent comments it looks like that isn't the case. BAE is the perfect addition along with Rose, as it's age and experience coupled with young potential. Benny could give us at least a couple more years of quality, during which Rose could really come into his own. Bring in a 21 year old and they're stepping on each other's own development.

Watched BAE on the box against Leicester yesterday and wasnt impressed.

Loved the man but I think his tweets and attitude since he's been on loan show another side of the man.

Pros:
A left back
A legitimate wide option on the attack down the left
A bird Defoe won't have a crack at

Cons:
Another nickname for Walker consigned to the scrap heap

Is it pronounced dough-dough or do-do? If the latter we could all sing the Funky Gibbon song for him.
