I totally agree. I think he'd be a smart purchase as we continue to lose Home Grown players. And apart from that he's got a lot of talent/high ceiling.

I don't think Mourinho will be the least bit interested in a player who could be sensational after he's gone, and even moreso if it eats into limited available funds like we have at present.

How much have you even managed to watch of the mid table lower league side over there in the states? You been waking up extra early to catch Eze’s matches have you?

Don’t bother answering, it’ll only be a lie.
You ask the man a question, then go onto say “Don’t bother answering”.

Sort of negating your own question and the need for a response.

I agree, but if buying him now means we miss out on a RB or CM, would that still be a good idea?

We have issues in the squad that need fixed now.
Happy for the club to then go and buy good youngsters to develop/loan out for the future

Agree with this point of view. We absolutely have bigger priorities.

I'd still hope though that if we at least recognise Eze's talents then we can at least offer something to make the deal workable for all parties.

Eze is potentially looking for this move to a bigger team.

QPR are likely looking to improve their squad and would like to keep Eze but may be resigned to a) selling him for some investment money or striking a deal for players who may help their cause in 2021 - Perhaps Amos, maybe Clarke. We have a few more bargaining chips (CCV?) which may well lessen the impact of the deal financially for us but still benefit QPR.

All depends on that relationship i guess, as well as what JM actually thinks of Eze and what QPR actually think of Amos and other options.

Can’t help but feel a DoF would help balance the scales between what JM wants (today) and what the club may need moving forward.

Developing and harvesting a player like Eze for the long term does not benefit JM if he is not here in the long term. JM is far more likely to be concerned with the “here and now”, which could be to the detriment of long term planning if not careful.

This is where your DoF can help balance those deficiencies and help promote a planning for the now phase as well longer term.

Sort of like doing up a house to sell. One coat of paint instead of two for short term effect over long term gain.

They're already here and won't drain funds.
sorry for overlooking your point on limited funds...and i also think that the lack of funds is the major reason of mourinho not interested in signing eze instead of not rating him

I like him, he's very talented but I think we are over selling him atm. I believe QPR fans have been quoted as saying "he's not got a defensive bone in his body"?? If that's the case then he's not really good enough for any team in the top half of the table at the moment.

Fair enough but Jose has said he plans to be here in 5 years so maybe his view has shifted a little. That said as other posters have written there are pressing issues that havent been addressed for years such as DMs, a striker and full backs. These need funding first. If QPR will do a deal similar to the Southampton deal being talked about then we should talk. If they are after straight cash then i think we need to take a pass at this time and potentially regret it down the line. CCV plus 8-10 million and a loan could be a win win for all parties.

Am I right in thinking that we have/had a separate budget for youth signings?
In which case Clarke would have come out of that, at the age of 18 but Eze, at 22, would come out of the senior budget.

We are close to falling into an area we’re we will miss out on top talents! When they are at ezes stage for example and grealish the other year we won’t pay what the parent club ask as levy thinks they are unproven and penny pinches so we miss out at this stage! This is then when the problem gets worse, they move to another lower prem club or in the grealish case get promoted and are now in the prem! They show their potential and all of a sudden they are now valued at 50 plus mill, levy then won’t go anywhere near them due to the price! This is a cycle we seem to be falling into and it’s a worrying one ! Sancho grealish Maddison all to come mind with brooks cantwell eze all probably they next to follow

We’ve just lost a senior centre back and are in need of a 4th choice.

We play with 2 or 3 Ams/ wide men and currently have Son, Lucas, Bergwijn, Lamela, Dele and evening Lo Celso who have been doing that job.

I know you can see the difference.

I love watching evening Lo Celso under the floodlights at White Hart Lane.

So much more effective than afternoon Aurier or Ndaytime Ndombele.

Agree with your sentiments about a “deal” to be done.

Investing a sizeable chunk of our transfer budget on Eze for me isn’t a priority. There are other more obvious, glaring holes in the playing squad.

Negotiating a sensible ££ and a surplus squad player makes far more sense and something QPR may be open to.

(One of) CCV / Amos + 8-10 mill would seem like a smart move if JM is indeed interested and see’s a need.

15-18 mill cash upfront seems like a big hit in what has already been described as a modest transfer kitty from media reports.

In a dream world, out of curiosity, how much more would it cost to sign Benrahma? (Whilst on the topic of attacking champ midfielders?)

Somewhere in the 20-25 range according to reports of a release clause. Issue is chelsea and arsenal both linked so wages not in our ballpark again - hence we always look to battle palace and west ham for targets

As we know paper links can't be trusted. No way Chelsea are interested, they're trying and failing to sell players.

I don't think we battle them for targets either, we choose not too, (e.g Bowen then he went to Spam)

I think we should be going for more of these young english 'risk' type signings, players who're doing well and could be great, they used to work out pretty successfully for us in the past, although we are now a top4-6 club rather than mid table and trying to improve so the level is higher but we've previously signed the likes of:
Rose
Walker
Dawson
Sean Davis
Carrick
Simon Davies
Matt Etherington
Bale
Dele
Defoe

I'm sure i'm forgetting many but these ones were reasonably successful all of whom were young or relatively unproven apart from perhaps Carrick and Defoe who both had PL experience already.

Put it this way I think £20m on someone like Eze is a better than £30m spent on someone like Lamela, we need to massively up our british and homegrown quota anyway so as all signings are risks, why not take some calculated risks on young British talent again.

That's not a cycle at all. Sancho didn't want to come to us and Man City didn't want to sell. Pochettino didn't want Maddison and the Grealish deal was stuck in an ownership buyout.
