Somewhere in the 20-25 range according to reports of a release clause. Issue is chelsea and arsenal both linked so wages not in our ballpark again - hence we always look to battle palace and west ham for targets
A fiver he ends up at Aston Villa or Leeds.

Similar issues there. A lot to spend on a 25 year old from the championship. I doubt his wages would be an issue!

Didn’t realise palace were in for Son, Lo Celso and Lloris.

I find it very strange people debating value of others players eg clarke or othee younf players of the past... its very obvious from itk from last and and recent before JM everthing was very very positive on Eze coming, on the money, wages, manager, family and player side of things club and levy all on same hymn sheet... enter jose all of those things are /were excatly the same bar manager part, jose doesnt seem keen or want to use his limited budget on him its as simple as that.

I don't think Mourinho will be the least bit interested in a player who could be sensational after he's gone, and even moreso if it eats into limited available funds like we have at present.

This is a really important point, Jose has been brought in for 1 main reason and that's to win trophies. Judging by his initial press conferences Levy also discussed wanting to maintain playing with some attacking verve and also integrating the youth players we have already. So I'm not going to judge Jose if he decides to turn down signing Eze if he doesn't help him achieve his targets over the short term. He knows he's not going to be judged on the promising players he leaves behind but the trophies he does.

Jose likes hard working players and Eze isn’t that. Counter attacking football requires defending from the front which is something Eze is criticised for not doing (likes the glory but not putting in a shift chasing down the ball and opposition players).

It's a risk signing Eze without seeing him play in the Prem or even at a top Championship side. He could be a star in a few years or he could be another Onomah. Looks good in the Championship but isn't good even for a club wanting top 4.

I'm also not convinced he's as good a prospect as people think if the only notable club bidding for him are Crystal Palace.

I've never watched the guy before and not gonna base my opinion on him just off of YouTube videos so I have no idea how good of a prospect he may be to be honest!

These kind of signings need minutes to develop their potential, if we want to eat at the big table we have to buy the finest wines.

Better stats than Grealish, Maddison or Buendia playing for the worse team.

I haven't watched enough of him to comment either, but stats are not the thing to go by.

My point is that if he really is that much of a prospect then it seems odd he'd be moving to Palace, surely one of the top 8 teams would be in for him seriously if that was the case?

I think it's probably a case that teams can't afford to spend money right now taking risks on players that aren't tested at a higher level.

Top 8 means can has other priorities(like us, unfortunately), don’t have money or can’t guarantee him 1st squad(like us, unfortunately), and thats why they aren’t linked

Yeah I agree, could be a range of things though I guess. I remember only Saints and Leicester were really in for Maddison before he moved. But like you say it seems like the type of signing that top teams wouldn't want to take a risk on, or split their funds towards as he's still developing, but slightly lower teams may be happy to because they can't compete for those other players that the top teams would be interested in.

It's very early in the window, I think it's a bit premature to say we are or are not in for anybody.

Just because Crystal Palace are flashing their knickers at him doesn't mean hes going there.

Just look at Gedson, wasnt he going somewhere before West Ham came in thinking they had him. Then we swooped in once all the financials were clear.

Patients lads...

Worse league aswell...
Surely he meant Eze put up better stats than the listed players did when they were in the Championship. Which is true for the most part

It’s hard to argue whether Eze outperformed Maddison’s final season [17/18] in the Championship. They both had 14G, 8A. Maddison had more key passes pG, Eze had more dribbles pG. Maddison put up 14G, 8A in less minutes, but Eze also played for a much worse side. Irregardless, the similarities in stats alone should indicate that Eze could emulate Maddison’s success in the PL.

Eze was considered by many as the best young player in the Championship this season. [Although one could make a great case for Pereira & Benrahama as well]. Maddison, and Grealish were widely touted as the best players in the Championship for the previous two seasons and made a splash in the Premier League. Certainly for a sub 20m fee he’s worth a shot for a PL club.
