The NFL today has weirdly made me feel better. When you hear the NFL commissioner speak and see the sheer scale of what Levy has achieved with this stadium. I find it very hard to believe he’s gonna leave us or be happy with a mediocre team playing in it. And people will say he’s only interested in the bottom line. But ultimately a better team on the pitch means more bums on seats, better commercial deals and more prize money. He’s not an idiot he realises there’s no way people will pay top dollar to watch a shit team. Whether it’s with Pochettino or someone else I’m pretty confident we will be fine.

100%

They are not building that and then putting a shit team in it. Like I said, they will increase the player budget in line with revenues. I reckon our commercials on a match day are insane - it’s a beast of a stadium.

It’s what I don’t understand from the anti levy brigade. There’s no way we build a new stadium to not try and kick on to the next level. The current situation will be giving him sleepless nights because he won’t want to sack Poch but he may well have to. It’s a difficult decision for him.

We all hope that's the case but a new stadium didn't kick Arsenal onto the next level did it. But the owners are raking in the cash. Some recent ITK said he wouldn't be changing his ways so it's hopeful to think we'll suddenly be spunking money everywhere.

In fairness, this stadium and revenue generating capability is different level.

Yes it did, how do you think they were able to pay Ozil big money for example?

Tell you what it's a crying shame that we weren't able to indulge ourselves a little bit yesterday by talking up the first NFL game more on our social channels. I don't follow NFL but it was a huge achievement by the club to get the stadium to be built to host the sport and will be a huge benefit going forward both in terms of the revenue it generates and allowing spurs to become more of a household name across the world and we weren't able to capitalise on the moment because of how things are at the moment. Real shame after the work that went into it but it goes to show that you have to balance on-field and off-field development, which we simply haven't done.

I don’t think the decision will be that hard for him. As long as he believes the players are still with Pochettino. It would have to get horrendous like relegation threatened. However if Kane knocks on his door and says Daniel listen it’s over I think Pochettino would be gone the next day.

I'd be curious to know the impact in terms of sponsorship, the current situation is and how sticking or twisting will also affect things. The current Spurs brand has been for the most part the house that Poch built. Of course the infrastructure is all Levy but the on-field has very clearly been because of Poch.

He won't sack Poch for two reasons. Number one, he doesn't want to pay him off and number two, is that the likelihood he'll end up at Man Utd and make them a success.

Doubt it would have any effect and I’m sure our next manager will be just as big a name.

Do you believe ENIC are going to start taking large amounts of cash out of the club?

If you don't, then there will be much more money for the club to spend on football operations going forward due to the huge increase in turnover and the new certainty around the stadium financing.

If you do, then what is your foundation for this? You won't find it ever having happened before in the accounts (unless you count DL's salary as taking money out).

I have always believed that we will see an increase in spending on both transfers and salaries in line with the increase in income, but it will not be done in a way that causes the club to make significant losses. We will never be spending on a par with either Manchester club but will be able to/can already match Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. This is what I believe because: a) it's how things were done for a number of years prior to the serious commencement of the NDP and, more importantly; b) ENIC, as an investment company, make their serious money when they sell. Higher asset value = more profit. How do they now make the club more valuable? Success on the pitch. It's the only thing they can improve further (and also the hardest which is why, relatively speaking, they've left it 'til last although they have obviously overseen a massive improvement on the pitch during their ownership as well).

A more general point (it's not what you've said or implied @jurgen): I really dislike the way many of our fans talk about ENIC as a whole and particularly Levy as an individual. The man has done nothing other than what he believes is best for Tottenham Hotspur since he's been chairman and, despite making some mistakes along the way, his vision has totally transformed the entire club. Yet significant sections of our fanbase view him as the enemy and mistrust him, with very little basis. It's downright disrespectful imo and it makes me a bit sad.

Pochettino was not a big name. Spurs made him a big name.
This is true, but the relative size of the club / Spurs brand was closer to the level that Poch was at at the time than it is to where Eddie Howe is now. At the time we weren't a CL regular, so the step up for Poch wasn't as great. Eddie Howe has never had managed a European game (let alone a Champions League one) with Bournemouth. Expecting him to step up would be a big ask. I'm not saying he's not equal to it - there's no way of knowing if he can until it actually happens to him. But it's a larger risk to appoint Howe now than it was to appoint Poch in 2014.
