It’s not just about personality - even “quiet Harry “ has talked about the need to win silverware and not just being nearly men

Yes, Liverpool have a big history but in 2011 they were consistently finishing below us

I agree enic has built infrastructure but success on the pitch I secondary to appreciation of the property investment

they even describe Spurs as an “anchor tenant“ and that the Stadium was designed for NFL first

i don’t have an axe togrind. I just judge based on what I see and hear and think the contrast is stark vs a team that was below us for a decade

Levy has spoken about being successful, too - he just doesn't pop up in media interviews putting pressure on the manager.

You have to remember that in 2011 Liverpool were minutes away from being liquidated because of Hicks/Gillette who had the same ambitions. Liverpool are lucky that they are where they are, as it's not a fool-proof strategy. They have also finished below us for many years under Werner, and this season is their 9th? 10th? Slow burner, so it's easy to say you want to be at the top when you're already there. Were they saying that when Klopp was appointed and they were finishing 8th...

Liquidated??

Administration, yes. Liquidation, never.

Liverpool would never ever ever go into liquidation. They're too big, too well supported globally. Money would be been forthcoming from many avenues even if it was close.

Which is wasn't.

when they were in trouble I believe they were in the hands of the banks when Fenways took them over.

their net spend each season was 40-50m a season, then it went down quite a bit yet they were spending 140m+ but their sales evened it out. if we had sold Eriksen when he told us he doubted he would sign a new contract, and brought in someone of his quality with an extra here or there player like they did with selling Suarez and Coutinho, and not had a 1b stadium project we might not all be moaning today.

we haven't sold a star player since Bale which considering ENIC/Levy are so tight I'm shocked we spent it all that summer.

I personally think the reason we haven't like every other team in the window so far signed anyone is

1, our squad size is 26, so we need players out
2, not sure how good our HG quota is at the moment

when JM 1st took over we never needed a striker urgently, and even when Kane was injured, the system Poch played allowed us to use other options

Christian Purslow has done various interviews where he's basically admitted they were one day away from it. They did a good job with PR in covering up just how deep in it they were.

He has done interviews saying one day away from administration, not liquidation.

This bit is factually incorrect, whatever they may may have said and whatever you may have misunderstood.

The stadium was fully-designed and had planning consent with no provision for NFL. Then it was redesigned, with additional space for the teams and a retracting pitch, and the approvals were revised to accommodate NFL.

The stadium was not designed for NFL first. It was designed for football first and then changed to enable it to be used for both sports.

He did. It was a day away from administration. Read them again. There is such a huge difference. One is a big points hit and restructure the other is closing the doors and shutting the club.

Chelsea were far closer under the last days of Bates.

Levy being Levy as usual. Can't wait to see our forwards drop like flies because they can't get some rest. Sign some players you bald ****.

Son had all of Xmas off, and Moura hasn't played every game so if they are dropping like flies it's a lot to do with what happened prior 18/19 with the WC, 9 players getting to the final weekend, and the others that went out being dragged on to the USA tour.

they even lost 3 weeks of the summer as we had the CL final. yes I know Liverpool were also in the final, but they also hardly had anyone do the full WC, went out 1st hurdle in both domestic.

this season has been the shock with them though, expected them to suffer more injuries by now with the players they had playing in the Copa, and the AFCON

You're still blaming this on the WC?

I'm not going to blame anyone else. how do we blame Levy if Poch never took what we could afford, and due to the whole main 1st XI suffering from it, how many players should or could Levy of brought in when we already had a squad of 28 before the window closed.

if you don't believe players need a good rest in the fastest and most physical league in the world then that's your choice. Yes I know we needed a DM which would have made a big difference, unfortunately, Poch main man was De Jong who has told the world he wanted to stay 1 more season
