I'd be very interested to see a comparison of what we spent on whom in the seasons Poch was in charge versus Mourinho so far. I would imagine it will allow us to conclude one way or the other the theory that Poch wasn't backed.

I don't think it will at all. Spending money is not the same as backing a manager.

Mr Byrite. Daniel Levy was born into this business. There is a clue in the name. he grew up in bargain spotting.
This market was tailor made for him.
For those of you that have forgotten check ou this link in the Guardian of 20 years ago.

Daniel Levy has spent the best part of the past 15 years quietly building a multimillion-pound fortune in the City of London.
With a Cambridge economics degree and a formidable eye for detail, the 38-year-old father of two has bought and sold several businesses to good effect. Yet even within the Square Mile, where he has made most of his money, little is known about him - and that's the way he likes it. A cautious man, he is happiest working with people he trusts, far from the gaze of the media.....
Physically slight and softly spoken, he looks younger than his years. His boyish appearance hides a determination and drive that has won him the backing of some of the world's most powerful investors, including the Bahamas-based billionaire Joe Lewis and several wealthy investment banks.

Born into the family that founded the Byrite clothing chain, Levy has always had two main interests: making money and watching football.

Tottenham have been his passion from boyhood and he has long been a season-ticket holder. In the early 1990s he turned to Lewis, a long-term family friend, for backing to help him combine those two interests.

Now..... ok so that was 20 years ago...but its in his blood, this is his chance to shine and believe me he will.
He already has for some people, Im hoping he goes the extra few yards and knocks the ball out the park with Skrinia/Dias and Milik/Wood. and maybe even a further CM

ITK has said in the past that Daniel went shopping and did not buy for whatever reason but Suarez under 'arry
and rumors that Poch only ever wanted one player for any position.

Whatever the reason he copped the blame in the past. it seems hes been giving it some welly now!
so back to Mr Byrite...

Its odd but somehow, I think that the combination of the stadium being finance on a long-term bond issue, coupled with a depressed market condition has got Levy and Joe thinking, that this is the one time Jose can go shopping and get real value. So whereas in a booming market we would have to spend 2-3x the amount we are now they realise this is like a 70% off sale and they are filling their boots with a 100m spend and buying 2-300m worth of players in boom prices.

Maybe an exaggeration on the price differential by me here but just illustrating the point.

Jose has always known how to build a squad at a price. The soft market has allowed him to do it again at a price we can afford, hence the major overhaul with only a few tweaks left to be done later.

it really looks like we are trying to build a title winning balanced squad....

Finally on a lighter note at Tottenham we have a tradition of players with surnames, that have a double meaning...I wonder if Jose said to Levy not only will I win you a title whilst i"m there but give me a bit of poetic licence and I will deliver with a squad nearly full of names that are names but have another meaning during my tenure
King
Lloris Alli Hart Bale Son Kane Winks Skipp Dier Moura Parrot (Rose, Walker-Peters) and possibly Skrinna Millik Dias Wood
maybe there's a Jesus on the way....There will be if he wins the title

trouble is with the Asian market not having any broadcasting of the PL now we might not be a value out there now

what the fuck?? Asia is a lot fkin bigger than just China you know ? I think China coverage was suspended at one point for not paying the scheduled amount due to no games. Back on now I think. The rest of Asia is well covered thank you ?

Hmm.... "surprisingly" gone quiet on that new, must have, proven, quality centre back we have needed for a 2nd season in a row now....

I disagree that it’sa need. Would be nice, but we’re not suffering in that area. On the premise that some part of a team always has to be the weakest part of the team, then yes it’s the most obvious place to strengthen now, but our options there aren’t exactly poor.

Apart from Toby / Dier / Sanchez / Tanganga / Davies and Doherty can play at centre half 6 players for 2 spots I must say we are OK for centre backs if the poster is going to say " I said quality centre backs " then with five full internationals out of the six thats not too shabby .
People are getting all out of shape because mistakes have been made all I can say is that all defenders make mistakes otherwise there would be no goals scored . The most lauded centre back VVD at Liverpool has made mistakes in all of Liverpools last three games in one match he made two mistakes leading to goals in the same game . He is still a quality centre back a few errors is not going to change this fact . People need to get of the backs of our centre halfs.
They are as good as most playing in the premiership and like all defenders mistakes will be made the time to worry is if they are out of their class or depth for myself our centre backs stand alongside any centre back combo .

Sure just tell Dier he is allowed to contest a header for me - thanks

On the Dier situation the last time we played Hammers he had Antonio in his pocket and considering he has in other games given us a lot of problems . So i really hope Dier Plays and if he does not it will be interesting to see how the selected centre backs fare ,

Fair play to Levy and Enic. Been a very good transfer window. Always said they needed to back Jose after bringing him in as manager and they have done that. Now its fully over to Jose to show what he can do with this squad.

One thing though hope lessons have been learned from previous transfer windows and we wont have any more summer transfer windows of staying still anymore.
