Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen met earlier today with executives representing Tottenham, including club owner David Levy, to reiterate his desire to join Inter, Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia’s transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported on air moments ago.

shame they can’t get Levy’s forename correct. Eriksen offering to contribute is an interesting development if true.

I doubt Rodney Levy cares one way or the other until an acceptable offer comes in.

Maybe this whole situation has been caused by Eriksen negotiating all this time with some guy called David Levy who has nothing to do with the club.

Such a silly misunderstanding has caused so many problems.

It makes perfect sense. Eriksen is about to be showered in cash.
He can hand over the £8m extra he will earn this season to secure an early release and start enjoying his football again.
Or he can see the season out and hope the fans don't turn against him.

I am uneasy that a player can be kept at a club against his will though - that doesn't do anyone any good. Perhaps there should be an arbitration panel that can set a release fee taking into account what the player was bought for, how long is left on the contract, their age, experience, wages, injury record, etc. It would have to produce numbers that were in line with other transfer fees or all players would trigger it.
This kind of thing must happen in other business when there is a dispute.
