He needs to develop more tricks to his armoury if he is going to go on and become a great player. I'd keep him for now...

Anything over £8.8 million and I'd bite their hand off

Interesting, £8.8m how did you come to this figure?

I like Andros, he's a Spurs lad. But as alluded to already I think he will prove to be a very frustrating player. Decision making is very poor and I don't think that is something that can be taught.

Because that is 22 times what it cost Spurs to train him.

Seriously, why would we sell him to Everton? Not only are Everton contenders to our league position but in Martinez they've got a manager who could get the best out of him....#Bonkers
And he's English so he needs to be in our home grown players quota, we aren't that good that we can discard such a player!

A taller version of Lennon. Good squad player but not top four material. If we could get similar money to that of Caulker i'd sell.

I agree, although if Martinez sees something in him, it makes me wonder. I would take 10 million for him - I don't think he is that great (i.e. not super). None of the top 4 would want him.

Before his injury he played without fear. I think he lost that afterwards and it badly affected his form.
Fear of what? Getting injured?
I always assumed that "play without fear" means lacking inhibition.

When he came back, he performance just reeked of desperation. Whether it was desperation to prove he was good enough to get on the plane to Rio, i have no idea.

However, someone needs to sit him down and reset his expectations.

Unless you are Bale or Ronaldo who can win games on their own, you need to play in a way that is best for the team. He doesn't get anywhere near enough goals or assists to warrant his selfishness at present.

Get back to basics sunshine!

Much too soon to write him off.
Hardly played this season.
Seems to have stalled in his progress.
Lets hope we get a good coach.
Because he was ridiculously overhyped
does not mean he can't become a good player.

Yes, and lets get some more foreigners in instead of coaching the homeborn talent.

Would only consider any bid above 12 million. He can still improve. Would rather sell Lennon for 5 million if a bid comes in.

Well he (like Lennon) has been coached by three (or four i think) different managers. The result is their for all to see. A fast paced, shoot on sight and bugger everyone else player. One good goal for England and he thinks that he should be lining up next to Inesta and Messi.

He has scored just a paltry six goals in over fifty games, and this season one PL goal in twenty five (according to the official site). If you think he will help guide Spurs to the promised land of CL football then you might as well include David Bentley as a prospect to be "coached".

How old is this discarded player (Townsend)?

What has his age got to do with it?

If your good enough your old enough.

Its got a lot to do with it Gaz, stop talking tripe. At what age would a player become what he could become and be the finished article, 22?

This.

Player development is, more often than not, in fits and starts. He's a long way from realizing his full potential so it's far too early to make such presumptions that he'll only ever be 'ordinary'.

I can remember us raving about Lennon when he was 19 and he really hasn't improved. Who's to say Townsend won't over the next couple of seasons?

Both Lennon and Townsend have limited ability that Jesus H Christ could not improve. They are both good squad players but that's about it. Just where have they driven Spurs to since they became regulars?

They are both one dimensional, one trick Ponies who are not game changers, and worse still add little to the score sheet in terms of goals. Take sentimentality out of the equation and anyone can see that they are not the answer to helping Spurs to move forward.
